Annual Garden Party
On Thursday, July 20, the OXA once again held their Garden Party hosted by Frances and Franco Giammaria. Upon their arrival at the Giammaria home members and their guests were given a lai and treated to sounds of the island while they enjoyed beverages, networking and good company.
Temperatures and humidity were high again this year, but so was the fun and enjoyment had by the close to 70 people who braved the heat to attend this great summertime event. Members were treated to a marvelous surprise when Joe and Natalie Allen arrived with Cole, Wyatt and Zane in tow and then again when Frances gave away the authentic pineapple plant centrepieces on each table.
As always, the food was wonderful and complimented the Hawaiian theme set by the hosts. Members and their guests were served tasty hors d'hoeuvres, a delicious buffet with a variety of intriguing items including Hawaiian coleslaw, roasted eggplant and red peppers, rice, baked potatoes, salmon, steak and the "pièce de résistance," a pig which was roasted on a spit in true Hawaiian style and the meal finished off with coffee, tea and a fabulous dessert buffet.
Thank you once again to Frances, Franco and their family for providing another memorable summer social event for all those in attendance!
