Peter Patafie of Patafie's Moving Supplies & Rentals Inc.

 

Patafie's Moving Supplies and Rentals Inc. is a locally owned and operated moving supply store with a Retail and Commercial outlet. They cater to any person or company who might have a moving,

shipping or packaging requirement. At their one stop moving supply store they have anything you can think of to make your move easier. They also handle custom products such as vegetable boxes,

custom boxes, plastic, pallet wrap and strapping. At their 25,000 square foot facility they specialize in renting moving dollies, hand and appliance carts, moving blankets, plastic bins, logistic straps and much more.

 

Their goal at Patafie's is to become your premier supplier for all your residential, business moving requirements and your custom packaging solutions. To accomplish this objective, they keep an extensive supply of integrated moving supplies in stock. They also offer support and their expertise to solve all your packing problems, to ensure that your move or project goes smoothly. Their business motto has always been to sell a quality product followed by quality service at a fair market price.

 

At last week's meeting Peter shared with members some interesting statistics about Patafie's Moving Supplies and Rentals Inc. such as they: 

  • are one of the largest companies in the industry
  • have 23 people on staff
  • order approximately 1 trailer per week of newsprint for wrapping breakables
  • supply plastic bags, mattress bags, custom strapping & pallette wrapping
  • they supply more plastics than any other company in Ottawa

Peter explained how many movers have gotten away from owning their own equipment and now rent as it is more economical and requires much less space for storage.  Peter saw this opening in the market and stepped in to fill it and Patafie's has seen good success.  According to member testimonials Patafie's is where the crews want to rent from!  If your crew went to pick up supplies and are late to the job site you can mostly likely find them still at Patafie's enjoying a coffee and donuts.

 

As the environmentally friendly side of moving starts to become more popular, Peter says that the plastic bin industry is going to explode.  People are becoming more environmentally conscious and this is going to cause an increase in the demand for plastic boxes. Lucky for Peter he has 5,000 boxes in stock!  It should be noted however, that the price of plastic products can be expensive as they are a petroleum based so therefore when the price of petroleum rises so does the price of plastic products.

 

Patafie's not only supplies moving boxes and supplies they also do custom packaging. This part of the business is keeping them very busy. If you want to have your name and/or logo on the side of a box or bag, Patafie's can do it. The cost for putting a company name or logo on the side of a box can range anywhere from $250-$1,000.  Custom packaging is not something that is good for small quantities as the custom dyes required for this process are rather expensive.
