Post Event - Summary | |
Thursday, February 10, 2011 - Onsite
Hosted by Michael Kolberg of
Royal Moving & Storage (Ottawa) Inc
Royal Moving & Storage began as a small local moving company in 1983 and has grown to include a Cross-Border Operations Department and a Door-to-Door Overseas Division that can service most any city in the world. They are also a proud member of Atlas Van Lines. Royal Moving & Storage celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2008. The company consists of 50 employees, with an average length of service of 15 years. This means that they have an experienced team who provide top quality service to their customers. They have a 56,000 square feet Government approved, Canada Customs bonded warehouse space which is fully palletized, sprinklered, alarmed and monitored to provide the utmost safety and peace of mind for all their storage customers. With over 25 years of quality service, commitment and dedication to a job well done, the Royal Moving & Storage team can help you with your upcoming move.
At last week's onsite Mike welcomed OXA members, guests and his staff from both Royal Moving and Outaouais Moving (AKA the Kolberg Group) to the new home of Royal Moving and Storage on Taylor Creek Drive. Mike proudly announced to all in attendance that "this represents the opening of our new facility" and took a moment to thank all the OXA members who directly and indirectly contributed to the opening of their new location. Some of these members included Konica Minolta, Mansfield Rodney, DanCan Elelctric, D.E. Systems, Valpak, Pro-Active Business Leadership, Patafie's Moving Supplies & Rentals and KSL Construction just to name a few. It has been a little over 3 years since the departure of a previous general manager reduced Royal Moving to a "shell" but through hard work and perseverence Mike and his team have rebuilt the company into something he is very proud of.
Mike provided members with some interesting facts/statistics about Royal Moving & Storage and their sister company Déménagement Outaouais (located in Gatineau) such as:
- they have 50 full-time employees and up to 100 part-time, summer, seasonal employees who put $2,000,000 in wages and salaries into the local economy;
- they have 110,000 sq. feet of warehouse space throughout the National Capital Region which is used for both household and commercial storage (2800 storage vaults);
- they have a rolling stock of 12 tractors and 25 trailers for both local and lond distance which gives them a total rolling stock of 50 pieces of equipment.
Their competent staff, warehouses and equipment allow them to: be one of the largest providers of relocation and storage services to the Department of Foreign Affairs in the region, be one of the largest (top two) providers of cross border trucking/moving for Atlas Van Lines in North America and continue to increase their emerging commercial division which has gone from zero to almost $1 million in sales in one year.
Mike talked about the one thing that makes Royal Moving different in a world where their industry has turned moving and storage into a commodity - His people. Mike introduced OXA members to his wonderful staff including Kym Leroux, his new General Manager, and new OXA alternate, who has helped him to make the changes and hard decisions that will move Royal Moving & Storage to the next level. He also mentioned the new procedures (including employee background checks) that the moving industry has implemented in these times of heightened security. Mike believes that these measures will provide customers with peace of mind when it comes to moving for the private and corporate world.
And don't forget that Royal Moving and Storage also does local moves! So whether you are moving across town or across the world, Mike Kolberg (613) 728-1500 and Royal Moving & Storage (Ottawa) Inc. can help. --------------------- |
