Upcoming "State House Small Business Week" Events with State Rep. Linda Dorcena Forry

State Representative Linda Dorcena Forry will host a coffee hour for local businesses Monday, May 21, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Flat Black Coffee, 1906 Dot Ave, in the Carruth Building at Ashmont Station.
As the Chair of the Joint Committee on Community Development and Small Business, Linda is a key contact on Beacon Hill for issues that affect businesses like yours. This coffee hour is a great chance to get updates on business news from the State House, and to ask any questions you may have.
On Wednesday, May 23, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m., Rep. Forry will host the Small Business Breakfast and Resource Fair in the Great Hall of Flags at the State House. Resource providers will share information on the many many programs available to assist small businesses with everything from designing a business plan to procuring state funding. Providers include:
- U.S. Small Business Administration
- Small Business Development Centers
- Office of Small Business & Entrepreneurship
- Venture Development Center at UMass/Boston
- Mass. Association of Community Development Corporations (CDCs)
- Local CDCs
- Plus various tailored providers for veterans, women- and minority-owned businesses, and immigrant-owned businesses.
In addition, attendees will have an opportunity to hear from Gov. Deval Patrick (invited), Treasurer Steve Grossman, House Speaker Robert DeLeo, and Senate President Therese Murray about recent administrative and legislative efforts to improve the business climate in Massachusetts.
