Rezoning Dot Ave - Call for Volunteers

The Boston Redevelopment Authority is begining to work on consolidating Dorchester's two zoning districts - Dot Ave and the rest of Dorchester - into a unified zoning district.  BRA is looking for additional members for an advisory group for this project and has asked SMAMS to nominate some potential members.   The group currently contains members of the Dorchester Ave Task Force, which planned the streetscape improvements now under construction.

Group members will attend all working sessions and public meetings for the project.  The planning phase will begin in early 2011 and should take approximately one year.  Meetings will take place in the evning at the Dorchester House, 1353 Dorchester Ave, and wil last approximately 2-3 hours.

If you live near Dorchester Ave, or if you own a business or a building near the Avenue, and you would like to be considered for the advisory group, please submit to SMAMS by October first a statement of interest describing why you think you would make a good addition to the group.  SMAMS will submit its choices as nominations to BRA.   Appointments will be made by Mayor Menino.

Email submissions are preferred (address office@smams.org), but you can also mail to us at:  St. Mark's Area Main Street, 1914 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester, MA 02124.  Please feel free to call the SMAMS office at 617-825-3846 if you would like further information.
