Farmers' Market Returns July 9, on Ashmont Station Plaza

Farmers Mkt Tomato & Carrot #1

The Ashmont/Peabody Square Farmers' Market returns for a second season Friday, July 9, at a new location - the Ashmont Station Plaza at the corner of Dot Ave and Ashmont Street.  The market will run every Friday, 3-7 PM, through October 29.

Our Grand Re-Opening celebration will feature the Irie Roots Carribbean Band, who were a crowd favorite last year.

Returning farmers Spring Brook Farm and Farmer Dave's will be joined by new vendor Langwater Farm.  Each of these farms has a fascinating story - Springbrook a family farm for almost 300 years; Farmer Dave a former Peace Corps agriculture instructor in Ecuador; and Langwater a young and "energized crew" based in North Easton, "working to create a vibrant community farm."

The market will all also feature fresh flowers from Cedar Grove Gardens and artwork from Dorchester Arts Collaborative members.  More vendor news coming soon!

Ashmont Station Trolley Noise Meeting Tuesday, July 20

Sen. Jack Hart has scheduled a follow-up community meeting Tuesday, July 20, 6:30 PM at All Saints' Church Hall, 209 Ashmont Street, to discuss the Ashmont trolley noise situation.   MBTA General Manager Richard Davey will attend.

Since the last meeting on June 10, the T has installed a sprinkler system and sound-deadening blankets to reduce the noise level.

For more information, please contact Sen. Hart's office at 617-722-1150.
