Indian Summer at the Farmers' Market

After a brush with winter last week, we're back to much more seasonable weather for our final two weeks. Stop in and stock up on fall fruits & vegetables, flowers and arts & crafts!
A few highlights for this Friday - - Organic corn, mustard greens, mint, baby &
dwarf bok choy, red choy, pea tendrils, lettuce, Swiss chard,
purslaine, mint and raspberries at Flats Mentor Farm
- Tomatoes, corn, apples, pears, potatoes, onions, eggplant, carrots, beets, broccoli, squash, and cabbage at Farmer Dave's.
 The market, sponsored by SMAMS, ODWIN Learning Center, Wainwright Bank and the Dorchester Environmental Health Coalition, runs every Friday through October 30, from 3 to 7 p.m., rain or shine. We are located at ODWIN Learning Center, 1943 Dorchester Ave., across from Ashmont Station and the Carruth Building.

The Restaurant Scene
Flat Black Coffee presents White Chrome - The First Annual Boston Barista Throwdown
Saturday, Oct. 24, 2:00 PM. The
best baristas representing independent cafés from Boston and
surrounding towns will compete in front of a live and online audience.
The public is invited to taste beverages prepared by the competitors
from 2:00 -4:00 PM during the practice rounds, and to witness the
entire
competition plus a "cupping" (tasting) hosted by Flat Black's master
roaster and co-founder, David House. Admission is free, but a
donation of $10 is suggested to benefit the Greater Boston Food Bank.

Tavolo is now open at Noon every Sunday for Tailgate Mania, featuring three hi-def TV's to watch the games.
