Dot-2-Dot Cafe, Tavolo Ristorante, Ashmont Grill and Flat Black Coffee will all be featuring special events in the next few weeks:


Dot-2-Dot Cafe Grand OpeningThe Dot-2-Dot, at 1739 Dorchester Ave.,  will have a Valentine's Day Brunch on Saturday, Feb. 14.  Special hours, 11 AM - 4 PM.  To check out the special Valentine's menu, please click here.  For reservations (encouraged), please call the Dot-2-Dot at 617-436-2368.

The Dot-2-Dot is also offering gift boxes of assorted biscuits and pastries.  The selection includes  almond shortcakes, florentines, coconut macaroons and chocolate truffle sponge.  Boxes are priced at $10, and orders can be taken at 617-436-2368 or dot2dotmanager@gmail.com


Tavolo RestaurantTavolo Ristorante, 1918 Dorchester Ave. in the Carruth Building, will host a Valentine's Singles Dance Party (couples welcome too!), featuring DJ Maryalice, Saturday, Feb. 14, 7 PM - Closing.  $25 admission includes buffet, serving until 9 PM.  For information and reservations, please call Megan at Tavolo, 617-822-1918.  (Also, please note Tavolo's new regular hours -  4 - 11 PM daily, with dinner beginning at 5:00.)

Tavolo recently began holding a weekly Regional Pasta Tour on Wednesday evenings at 6:30.  Owner Chris Douglass and chef Maxwell Thompson will highlight a different region of Italy every week.  You'll learn about the local cooking styles and enjoy a three-course meal for $18, with suggestions for the perfect wine pairing.  For reservations, please call Tavolo at 617-822-1918.

Ashmont GrillThe Ashmont Grill, at 555 Talbot Ave., has been hosting a Monday Night Wine club for almost two years, and they are celebrating their 100-week anniversary with a tasting on Monday, Feb. 23, 6 - 8 PM.  For $40, you can enjoy wine and food from France, Italy, Spain and the US .  For menu and reservations (strongly suggested), please call the Grill at 617-825-4300.


Flat Black Giant Coffee CupFlat Black Coffee, in the Carruth Building at 1906 Dorchester Ave., will hold their first coffee tasting Sunday, March 1, from 2 to 4 PM, $15.  While learning the history of coffee, you can taste and compare coffees from all over the world.  Jeff Chatlos and crew will also educate on the difference between brewed coffees and espressos, and there will be pastry samples as well.  For more information, please call Flat Black at 617-825-1440.
SMAMS/Neponset Health Center Youth Advisory Council

SMAMS and NHC are forming a Youth Advisory Council to address issues of youth violence and underage drinking.  Any Dorchester teen, age 14-18, who is interested in these issues is welcome! 

The initial meeting (which also includes food and bowling) will be held Tuesday, Feb. 24, 3:30 - 6:00 PM at Boston Bowl on Morrissey Blvd.

Ashmont Station Shutdown This Weekend

Ashmont Station will be closed Saturday, Feb. 14 and Sunday, Feb. 15 while the construction crew installs beams for the station's new roof.  Shuttle buses will make all stops along Dorchester Ave. between Ashmont and JFK/UMass stations.  Regular service will resume Monday, Feb. 16.  (If work is postponed due to weather, the alternate dates to perform this work will be Feb. 21-22.)  Please call the MBTA Construction Hotline at 617-222-6757 with any questions or concerns.
