Mayor Menino Dedicates Carruth Building Nov. 22

Wainwright Bank & Flat Black CoffeePlease join Mayor Menino for the formal dedication of the Carruth Building on Saturday, Nov. 22, 12 Noon, in the well-heated retail space at 1912 Dorchester Ave.

This building is a monument to the strength of our community, and we are looking forward to a great turnout!

Peabody Square for the evening's tree lighting celebration!

Meet Saturday, Nov. 29 at 9:00 AM at the Peabody Square Clock with your broom, rake, and/or shovel.  We'll be done by 11:00.

This is part of our ongoing program to keep our district clean.  Based on your enthusiastic support of our last three cleanups, our Design Committee will be sponsoring a cleanup every two months or so from now on.
Peabody Square Tree Lighting Nov. 29

Tree Lighting 2005Join Santa & Mrs. Claus and all your neighbors at the annual Peabody Square Tree Lighting on Saturday, Nov. 29.  Gather at the tree on the traffic island at 6:30 PM for caroling, hot chocolate, and goody bags for the kids.  Santa & Mrs. C arrive at 7:00 to light the tree, and we head for the party afterward in the Peabody Square Fire Station!

Dot-2-Dot Cafe Grand Opening

Winter Stars Concert Dec. 13

SMAMS and the Boston City Singers will present Winter Stars, a holiday concert for all, on Saturday, Dec. 13, 7:00 PM at St. Mark's Church, 1725 Dorchester Ave.

Performers include the Boston City Singers youth chorus; Dorchester Symphony Orchestra; and Branches Pan Groove Caribbean Steel Orchestra.

Admission is $10, but free to all who complete the Healthy Holidays on Main Streets promotion! (see below)

Woodworker/Artist Space Available

Welcome to SMAMS' newest business:  Northwind Woodwork, at 15 Banton Street.

Owner Thomas Guevin has a 2,000 sq. ft. space that he's looking to share with a craftperson, woodworker, sculptor, funiture maker,
potter, etc.  Thomas notes that the space has has 16' ceilings and some natural light; he is asking $400 per month to share.

Holiday Helperscandy cane heart

Jack Conway Real Estate, 1810 Dot Ave, collects non-perishable food which they donate to Dorchester food pantries.  They also take monetary donations, which food pantries use to purchase food at the Greater Boston Food Bank. Make checks payable to Dorchester House, or to Codman Square Health
