Clay Station Studio, Dot-2-Dot Cafe Grand Opening

Clay Station Studio Grand Opening

Thanks to all who came out for the grand opening celebrations for Dot Art's Clay Station Studio and The Dot-2-Dot Cafe on Saturday, June 28. A good crowd welcomed Mayor Menino as he cut the ceremonial ribbon at both establishments - The Clay Station at 1782 Dorchester Ave. (at the corner of Shepton Street), and the Dot-2-Dot at 1739 Dorchester Ave. (just south of St. Mark's Church). It's fitting that these two ventures held their grand openings on the same day, because they've been helping each other out since they opened earlier this year: The Dot-2-Dot displays artwork by Dot Art graduates, and Clay Station students made the dazzling tile display that adorns the Dot-2-Dot's storefront.

Landmarks Orchestra returns to Dot Park July 27

The Dorchester Reporter presents the Boston Landmarks Orchestra in concert at the  main baseball field in Dorchester Park, Sunday, July 27, 6:30 PM.  Admission is free, and free parking is available at Carney Hospital's lot adjacent to the field.

The show will feature selections from George Gershwin and gospel favorites.  Concert-goers are encouraged to bring their own picnic to the park and make an evening of it with friends and neighbors from Dorchester and beyond.

The Boston Landmarks Orchestra presents exceptional orchestral music performances in significant architectural, historical, and geographical settings throughout the Boston area, always free to the public. Founded in 2001 by Conductor Charles Ansbacher, the BLO is one of only two professional orchestras in the country whose mission is to perform all free concerts.

This special event is made possible by the city of Boston's Parks and Recreation Dept., Mayor Thomas M. Menino, the ParkARTS program, and Bank of America.  For more information, visit
