"Every new beginning comes from some
other beginning's end." ~Seneca

Dear Sweet Yogis and Yoginis
The New Year is off and running and we at OM Sweet Om welcome the opportunity to begin anew our journey torward  greater wisdom and happiness and health, also known as enlightenment. The Buddha defined enlightment as being fully awake, reminding us gentlely to be patient stating that "enlightment comes as a firefly, not as a sunset". Whether you are one who embraces the opportunity  to create change by making New Year's  resolutions or one who  rejects the notion as contrived and trite I think it is fair to say that we all  recognize that we are not perfect fully awakened beings.and as such we are grateful for the opportunity to change and grow that exists within each moment of our lives. On the one hand we do not need an officially declared day to renew our efforts to realize our higher nature, but on the other it doesn't hurt to join in on the fun as a community and remember together what we are here to do.

"Then, without realizing it, you try to improve yourself at the start of each new day; of course, you achieve quite a lot in the course of time. Anyone can do this, it costs nothing and is certainly very helpful. Whoever doesn't know it must learn and find by experience that a quiet conscience makes one strong."~Anne Frank

Our yoga practice equips us well for this journey in many ways. Yoga is a very power vehicle for creating and supporting transformation within our bodies and minds leading to a realization of spirit and the bliss associated with that experience. Our practice teaches us to be present and breathe open to all kinds of energy, emotions and sensations.(especially the ones that make us want to run). Through our practice we learn to control our senses, moving away from compulsive behaviors liberating the mind and body of impurity and ignorance, which interferes with our ability to connect to our innate joy necessary to realize the inner self.

"The key to change... is to let go of fear."~Rosanne Cash

When we open to being present to whatever comes our way witnessing with loving kindness our responses to gifts and challenges alike we taste the sweetness of living an authentic life! Fully Awake!
Happy New Year Everybody!

WE hope to see you soon at Om Sweet Om.
Love and Peace and More love,
Lisa and Gail
"Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through.
Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it.
This is a kind of death." ~Anais Nin

"It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change." ~Charles Darwin

Breath in and lift the head heart and feet knees and thighs off the ground, in this variation the hands remain on the floor (although you may experiment with the arms lifted along side the bodyfor more challenge, for even more challenge take the arms in front of you and off the ground.

Physical benefits -
Opens the front of the body while toning the back body. Strengthens the upper mid and lower back muscles, while stretching the chest and belly. Helps stimulate the abdominal and reproductive organs.

Spiritual benefits -

"There are times to cultivate and create, when you nurture your world and give birth to new ideas and ventures. There are times of flourishing and abundance, when life feels in full bloom, energized and expanding. And there are times of fruition, when things come to an end. They have reached their climax and must be harvested before they begin to fade. And finally of course, there are times that are cold, and cutting and empty, times when the spring of new beginnings seems like a distant dream. Those rhythms in life are natural events. They weave into one another as day follows night, bringing, not messages of hope and fear, but messages of how things are." ~Chogyam Trungpa
