Saturday, October 20th (pick-up 10/19 5-8 pm) Fall Cleanse* See description in the beginning of the newsletter. Sunday, October 21, 2007, 2:30-5:30pm-Restorative Yoga Workshop with Gail Grossman Join Gail for a soothing workshop on restorative yoga. Supported yoga poses will help calm the mind, open the heart and relieve stress. In a gentle, slow-moving sequence, you will experience backbends, forward bends, twists, and subtle inversions as Gail guides you with bolsters, blocks, and blankets to support yourself in perfect comfort. You will be able to surrender completely to the stillness within. The Workshop will leave you feeling like you've spent the afternoon on a sunny island beach. Please dress in layers -- warm pants, tank top, a sweatshirt, and you may wish to bring cozy socks and a shawl. Please also bring an eye pillow or fluffy washcloth to cover your eyes (eye pillow available, $22.) Students of all levels welcome. As enrollment is limited to 30, prompt pre-registration is recommended. Sunday, November 4, 2007 1:00 - 3:30pm-Beginners Yoga Workshop with Lisa Bondy and Gail Grossman If you are brand new to yoga, still working to feel comfortable with the poses and terminology in group classes, or interested in establishing a steadier foundation in practice and theory, then come spend a fun, informative, and rejuvenating afternoon at Lisa and Gail's Beginners Workshop. You will acquire the tools needed to feel comfortable in a group yoga class or to begin a simple yoga practice at home. We will explore the basics of pranayama (breath), a simple variation of surya namaskar (sun salutaions), asana (poses including backbends, forward bends, hip openers, twists, and balances), and how to use props, modifications, and common sense to adapt the poses to suit your body's needs. The afternoon will end with a long relaxation and short meditation to leave you feeling centered, grounded and refreshed. Saturday, November 3 form 1-3 pm Squeeze & Resist with Kim Montgomery Two hour total body and mind workout. This unique exercise changes the body rapidly due to the intensity. Strength is developed and improved, emphasizing a balance with flexibility. Metabolic rates increase naturally to help lose weight. The stronger you become the more cardiovascular the method becomes for you, with out wear and tear on the joints. Yoga is fused into this practice, so as to lengthen the muscles creating a lean sculpted body, Yoga is also used to focus the mind on the specific part of the body being changed. Come out and play..... Core Evolution Montgomery Method. Thursday, November 8th, 8 pm-Dream Board Night-with Gail Grossman Heard of The Secret?Want to manifest some of your dreams? Join us for what will prove to be a fun evening, bring friends, no experience necessary. You may collect pictures and words that you would like on your dream board, there will be supplies included in the evening. $10 per person, bring your own wine (if you want...) Sunday, November 11th 1-3:30 pm-Mala Workshop Lisa Bondy Sunday, November 18th 2-4 pm,-Ayurveda with Sara Intonato Ayurveda is a sanskrit word that means "the science of life and longevity". During this 2 hour lecture Sara will share with you the knowledge from this ancient system regarding diet, yoga, seasonal and lifestyle tips all according to your personal constitution (which will be determined at the workshop). exercise regimen; any regular activity that
you enjoy is a good place to start.
Particularly useful for you would be Qi Gong.
These would help you to understand the flow
of energy in your body, so that you could
learn to control the flow of acid and bowels
and be more aware of these movements in your
body. Nurses and Doctors are talking about
Qigong, which is poised to be the next major
social wellness.
Press your standing foot into the floor ,
press your lifted foot into your thigh and
your thigh against your foot. Press your
palms together at the heart center in prayer
position. Find your inner stillness, draw the
awareness inside and breath the arms up over
your head . If the shoulders are open then
the palms may touch otherwise keep the hands
apart. Try 5 breaths to begin and increasing
with practice. Repeat on the other side.
Qigong is offered Mondays from 9:00-10:00 am
and Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 pm
