Hello Sweet Yogis and Yoginis,

"Be the change you wish to see in the world" –Mahatma Gandhi

The Omnibus, has taken a detour this month and come out a week late. I apologize if you have been waiting for us. Lots of changes are a foot and thanks to our yoga we have managed to flow through them with courage, creativity and grace.

Our yoga as a practice is in its essence an approach to life that awakens us to our capacity for self-mastery, the ability to be the best that we can be, offering tools for changing habits, healing ourselves and finding meaning and joy inside of each moment of our lives from the mundane to the extraordinary.
With this in mind, Gail and I strive to make Om Sweet Om a resource and sanctuary for you, our beloved community.
There has been a big change in the particulars of our our Yoga/Spring Cleanse retreat.
The good news is that it is still on, it has been shortened and it is less expensive. "Joy is not in things, it is in us."–Benjamin Franklin

Lotus
Spring has sprung with our blossoming yogi’s. We have explored many poses that connect us to this beautiful time of year. As seeds were planted we too have transformed ourselves. Starting in child’s pose and slowly emerging through the soil one branch at a time. We have balanced in tree pose, walked like our favorite dogs at the park and swam like a swan! Such fun!

The Lotus flower grows in muddy water and rises above the surface to bloom with remarkable beauty. At night the flower closes and sinks underwater, at dawn it rises and opens again. Untouched by impurity, lotus symbolizes the purity of heart and mind.

Our pose of the month is double lotus flower: To do this pose, balance on your sitbones and raise your feet off the ground. Take your hands in namaste and then place them down in front. From there wiggle your arms under your knees, hands in yoga mudra and balance. Face your partner face to face and try to hold hands. Rolling back is always fun as well!

Stay in touch with upcoming Kids schedules for the summer as well as summer camps. Any ideas or suggestions would be wonderful. Please contact Tina or Michelle for any particular classes or camps for the upcoming 2007 summer. Laughing and loving~ Tina and Michelle
Saucha--- (The first niyama) Saucha is cleanliness of body, heart, mind and environment. It is directly translated as that and nothing else. This involves making choices about what you take in as food, through all channels, mouth, ears, eyes and mind. Do you let any thoughts come in your mind at random, or anything to go into your mouth, or listen to anything that may even be disturbing to your being? Purity of body, cleanliness, good health habits, a clear and orderly environment are Saucha.
urdhvadhanurasana
Urdvah Danurasana- (upward facing bow)
Lie on your back with knees bent ,hips distance apart, and heels close to your butt. Bring hands to either side of your head, palms face down and fingers pointed toward your feet. Curl tail bone into the mat like arching cat and inhale press into your feet to lift your hips up off the ground and come onto the crown of your head. Then press into your hands and straighten your arms to lift your head off the ground and your heart up to the sky. Take five deep breaths and tuck the chin into your chest to roll down. Sanskrit Word of the Month Saucha (cleanliness) In honor of the cleanse

Body Talk is the fastest growing healthcare system in the world today. Its basic premise is that our bodies know how to heal themselves. They do this by communicating. The problem is that stress causes breakdowns in our bodies' already busy lines of communication and we get sick-physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. You will learn about how you can remind your body of its inborn ability to heal and grow on all levels-body, mind and spirit. Join us at our informational lecture and demonstration with certified BodyTalk Instructor, Arabella Carbone Basham on SUNDAY, APRIL 29th at 1 pm and THURSDAY, MAY 10th at 7:30 pm. THERE WILL BE NO CHARGE.
