The Transformational Journey
Greetings!

Welcome to "Path & Practice" our e-newsletter for individuals interested in the process of personal transformation.

The process of transformation can be such a challenging one filled with fear and anxiety. Having gone through the process several times in my adult life, I have learned that it doesn't have to be such a painful experience.

Transformation is very much an inner sojourn of self discovery and it is a journey that can be filled with wonder and joy.  It is my intention that this e-newsletter support  you in making your journey both a creative process and a joyful one.

I am glad you have decided to join us for the journey.

Warmly, Laureen

The Call

Most people about to embark upon a transformational journey often do not even know they are about to go on a journey.

You have an experience. Something happens in your life that could alter or change your life dramatically.  You don't realize it yet but you have been called to go on a transformational journey.

Change is a scary thing and life as you know it is comfortable and so, you ignore the call.  The call is persistent though and over time, you decide or life decides for you, to answer the call.  You say "yes" to the call with a decision of some sort and the journey begins.

The Economy

For me, the 2007 Global Recession and its after effects was a continual call for me to close our family owned business and to embrace a new vision of the future.  Like most people, I chose to ignore the call for as long as I could.  In April of 2012 however, after struggling to keep our business opened, I made the decision to close the doors.  With that decision, my transformational journey began.

The business closed on April  7th 2012.  The days and weeks that followed were filled with uncertainty and a great deal of unpleasant discomfort.  Eventually, I did come to realize that I had been on this journey several times before and that it didn't have to be such a miserable experience.  After some reflection, I realized that there is a map and a way to travel that can help make the journey more pleasant.  I only had to trust the map and follow the path to realize a new sense of self and to create a new life for myself and my daughters.

Traveler's Club
Woman Reading
Want to learn more about the transformational process?

Every fourth Wednesday of the month, meet up and join in the conversation with other individual journey travelers to discuss the application of transformational concepts as it relates to your life.  Club membership is free and all are invited to attend and participate in our monthly Tele-Circle calls.

How It Works

Each month a book or movie related to personal transformation is selected. Club members read the book, watch the movie or review the executive summary of the book or movie that is sent out to registered individuals approximately one week prior to the tele-circle. On the fourth Wednesday of every month, participating club members link in to a TeleCircle to discuss and debate the application of the ideas presented in the book or movie.

To learn about what books we will be reading for the next couple of months, check out the calendar below.

Want to register for this month's book discussion?  Just reply to this e-mail or e-mail Laureen regarding the Traveler's Club and let her know you want to register to attend.

Breaking Through Isolation: Building Community

It is easy to feel as if you are alone on your journey. The fears you face on  your transformational journey will highlight this sense of isolation.  You do not have to go it alone however.  There are others who would travel along side you.

There are several ways that you can bring others on your journey for friendship and support.

First of all, you can visualize them with you as you face the challenges of your journey.  Imagine how different your journey would be if every time you faced a challenge your family and friends stood behind you cheering you on with their support.  To do this, simply visualize all your family and friends standing at your side or behind you, offering words of encouragement and expressions of love.  Feel their love for you like a shower of support. When you do this, you will realize that you are not alone. You will feel the love and support of the people in your life who care for you. You will also feel a surge of courage and strength in yourself that will help you to face whatever challenges are in front of you. Through this visualization you will find a faith in yourself--that you are in fact quite competent and capable.

The second way you can bring others on your journey with you is to ask them to join you. This requires a willingness to become vulnerable and to share with others about your journey.  Talking with others about what you are going through, as you leave your past behind and journey into the realm of the unknown, can be a bit daunting. During the process of  personal transformation, you lose your sense of self and confront your egoic way of seeing the world.  Out of this process a new self emerges.  Sharing this process with another person requires that you trust them.  Consequently, when looking to invite someone to join you on your journey, consider carefully how much you trust that person to keep your confidences and to fully support you.

 Transformation Community

Finally, the third way you can enjoy and benefit from the support of another person on your transformational  journey is by hiring a life coach.  A life coach is someone who understands the process of personal transformation and can guide you through your journey.  One advantage of using a coach is that they offer you support without any vested interest in the decisions you make along the way of your journey.  They are your counselor and your cheerleader.

Whether you symbolically invite others to join you on your journey or literally ask for the support of family and friends or you hire a coach to provide guidance and support on your journey, as you journey with your travel companions you will discover the power of community.  Community shifts your vibration of energy and empowers you. It reminds you that you are not alone and that there are others who love and care for you.  Feeling supported, community gives you the courage and strength to do the things you think you cannot do. Community gives you faith in yourself.

The Transformational Journey Virtual Intensive Program

In October 2012, The Transformational Journey will host an online virtual intensive program for individuals interested in learning about the journey of personal transformation and how they can facilitate a more joyful and creative transformational process for themselves.

For four weeks in October the group will meet online Tuesday evenings for four training modules and Thursday evenings for four group coaching sessions. All sessions will be facilitated by Laureen Quick, Transformational Life Coach. At the end of the four weeks, each participant will have one coaching call or Skype session with Laureen to identify an application strategy for their lives.

Specific dates for this program are listed in the calendar below.  More information will be provided in the September edition of "Path & Practice" about this learning opportunity.

Want to get the details as soon as they are available? Just reply to this email or sent an email to Laureen about More Details About The Journey and she will contact you directly with program information and the registration process.

Practice: Tools For Transformation
Positive Affirmations To Build Your Sense of Self

To affirm is to validate.  On the transformational journey it is easy to doubt yourself.  The loss of what you have left behind and the uncertainty of your future, call into question who you are as a person.  The daily practice of affirmation serves to soften the erosion of your sense of self.  Ultimately, the practice of affirmation is the choice to think positively and to hold positive beliefs about yourself.

There are many affirmation tools you can use on your transformational journey. One of the most common practices is is the use positive affirmations.

Affirmation Woman

Affirmations are simply positive statements that you repeat over and over that affirm who you are.  For example:

"I am an intelligent, capable woman and my potential is unlimited."

In order to ground them in your subconscious, affirmations should always be spoken with conviction in the form of "I" statements and in the present tense.   It doesn't matter if you say them out loud or in your mind. What is important is that you say them consistently over time. The power of an affirmation is that when repeated on a regular basis, you eventually re-program your sense of who you are and it is your belief in yourself that will generate positive changes in your life.
