This week the 7th & 8th had a retreat at Eagle Bluff Environmental Center - and the news ... it was awesome!

Students came back to school with stories about hikes, researching and some extreme ropes courses! Way to go high-climbers adventuring students!

Morning Drop Off in front of the school is becoming quite dangerous  Parents, please have your child/ren cross at the corners with the patrols and not in the middle of the street when you are not dropping off on the school side of the street.  Walking your child/ren across the middle of the street is not safe either and is not teaching students correct ways of safety in crossing.  The teachers and I are very serious about keeping everyone safe and need your cooperation in this.

No Play

Due to scheduling conflicts the Fall Play has been postponed. We shall reschedule and announce new audition dates and schedules.

 Picture Day

Thurs. Oct. 4th - Students are asked to bring their brightest and biggest smiles for - PICTURE DAY! Students may be out of uniform in appropriate clothing, as specified by the handbook. 

Preschool students are invited to come in for pictures regardless of their usual days. Parents, meet up with the class at 8:20 to get ready. It should only take a 1/2 hour to an hour. Retakes will happen on Tues. Nov. 6th to ensure your student has a chance during their regularly scheduled days to have their photo taken.

Middle School High School Day

Attention 8th Grade Students and Parents:

Spending a day shadowing a student is a valuable experience when trying to determine the right high school. Therefore, we have reserved Monday, October 29th as "8th Grade Shadow Day." Students interested in shadowing a high school student are encouraged to do so on this day.

Please note: Parents need to contact the high school directly to set up the shadow experience. Students NOT shadowing on Monday, October 29th should come to school.

Trivia Night - Save the Date!

Friday Nov. 2nd from 6:30 - 10 pm

The cost is $15 per person and registration opens the week of October 15th! Check the website for upcoming information!

Pick the Perfect Pumpkin:

Sunday Oct. 14th from 10am - 2pm at Our Lady of Peace Church.

Join us for complimentary doughnuts, cider, coffee, face painting, photo ops, music and more!

The first Cash for Trash contest is fast approaching!  We will be collecting "trash" the week of October 22nd-26th:). Keep collecting those Boxtops for Education, Campbell's labels, ink cartridges, Kemps caps with the nickels logo (no other caps are collected), tape dispensers, and juice pouches to turn in that week.  There will be more info in the weeks to come. The more "trash" we get, the more free money our school makes:)! 

 iOS 6
This week we began upgrading the iPads to iOS 6 and added a few new apps. We're already hearing from students how they like the look but not some of the changes. Here is a breakdown of the upgrades and changes:

- A few minor appearance changes

- No more google apps, Youtube and Google Maps are no longer standard.

- New Apple Maps & Navigation App: has some city panoramic views!

- Do Not Distrub feature - turns off notifications during specific hours.

- iMail is enhanced: it is easier to add attachments.

- Ability to use dictate or Siri on iPad 2.

- Shared photo streams via email.

As a school device there are certain upgrades with iOS 6 that might not be accessible such as: Facebook integration with Mail, Contacts and Calendars, upgrades for 3G and 4G functionality, and Safari integration with iCloud.

With each step of the iPad program teachers, students and staff are learning new roles technology can take in our lives. We continue to learn and enhance our policies and protocols to provide best possible 1st year of 1:1 iPad!
