5K Recap

Many thanks to all who joined us for a morning at the lake - with some running or walking involved - at the OLP 5K on Sept. 15. It was a perfect morning to celebrate health, community, and the beginning of another year of strong Catholic education in the Lake Nokomis area.

We have dozens of great photos and videos of the event, but alas, it is Block Party week, so'll we give you a few here and a more detailed recap will be publish post-BP.

Thanks to Shannon Dahl, Amy Smith, Casey Getschow, Sarah Odegaard, Fat Lorenzo's, Oxendale's Market, Nourish, and all volunteers & participants for organizing, supporting, and sponsoring the event!

Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos

Saturday morning at the Block Party is for kids, but the morning ends with entertainment and information from our friends at Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos.

Central American music and dance will be featured on the Rock Stage at 11am as we are fortunate to have the group stop by our Block Party on their tour of the US.

Meet the group that will inspire and entertain you and learn more about their tour by clicking on the image of young Carlos.

Block Party Blasts Off in Less Than Two Days!
The 2012 Block Party has a such a great lineup of food, entertainment, rides, and family fun, that it was difficult to think of just 5 great reasons to attend. When you have something for everyone, how do you choose 5? We tried. Read the list here
Tell the Friends. Neighbors. Family.

How often, in less than 36 hours, can you witness one tent, under beautiful, starry, Minneapolis September skies host a great band playing disco music that has toured the country, a group of talented Central American troubadour child entertainers, an outdoor movie by Dr. Seuss, and some solid, local unique talents including dancing moms? That sentence was so long that I am guessing those words have never been put together in one sentence before and we'll have it all live on our Rock Stage. So, tell your friends. This is going to be a unique party!  Check the full schedule of events here.
Some Final Needs
Men can bake too right? See the notice requesting last minute Sweetshop needs that was sent to Our Ladies of Peace email list. Men can also run to Target and pick-up other necessary items.

Care to volunteer? Click here and then on the sign-up to volunteer button.
Watching the Weather
Keep saying those good weather prayers. However, rain, snow, sleet, or hail, the party will go on. No matter what weather may come to the 55417 this weekend, we will be here.

If it is cold, have a warm, savory pulled pork sandwhich, at the Saturday morning parade warm-up with a hot cup of cocoa or coffee from the Sweetshop, Fat Lorenzo's comfort food is great on a cool evening, and a nice cold beer is delicious to cool you off from some disco dancing.
