He will be missed.

School News
  iPads have landed...

Middle school students received their iPads this week, and hit the ground running! At the orientation students gathered in groups comparing apps, testing the education games, and exchanging emails.

It's an exciting start to the new year - and already students are integrating the devices with their current classes! In art class students searched for inspiration on the web for their first project and in another they searched for further reading material in an app.

Family Talent Show

We are looking for all acts - adults and students - fit for a family-oriented talent show.  We would love to include acts of all ages with as many different talents showcased as possible.  Maybe your talent includes:  poetry, magic, a skit, a whole family act, silly arm tricks, a Tim Conway-esque routine, hula hooping, jump roping, pogo sticking, or whatever else your imagination desires.

You can sign up with Cathy or Jason at: 612-408-4843 or 612-729-6119 or cjhaugland@gmail.com.  There will be a run-through opportunity on Thursday, Sept. 20, 6:30-8:30pm.

Children's Choir

All students in grades 2-8 are invited to join the Children's Choir! The choir meets after school on Thursdays from 3-4, and sings for parish and school liturgies. More information and a full schedule is available on the parish website, www.olpmn.org under "worship", or email Wendy Silhavy. Rehearsals start September 20 - all are welcome!

Books, Books, Books!

As a new school year gets underway, we are reminded of the necessity and simple pleasure of good, old-fashioned BOOKS.  Yes, Nooks and Kindles are becoming more popular, but nothing can replace the feel of a book in your hands as you rifle through its pages.

One Literary Place, OLP's book store, is returning to the Block Party this fall, but only if YOU can help us out by donating your current, relevant, gently used books and media of all genres-- fiction, non-fiction, magazines, children's books and DVDs.

Are you a book lover?  Donate some of your already-read titles to make way for some fresh titles.

Are you a Nook or Kindle lover?  Donate some of your traditional books that you no longer need.

Remember that the book store is only as good as the books that YOU donate, so grab a bag, fill it up and drop it off in the 12th Street entrance of the church or in the school office.

Whate'er I do, things great or small
Whate'er I do, things great or small
Whate'er I speak or frame.
Thy glory may I seek in all,
Do all in Jesus' name.

My Father, for His sake I pray.
Thy child accept and bless
And lead me by Thy grace to-day
In paths of righteousness. Amen.
