Happy Pencil Day!
"Today we celebrate the first patent on the modern pencil. On this day in 1858, the United States Patent and Trademark Office granted Hymen Lipman a patent for a pencil with an eraser attached to it. This wooden pencil was praised for its ease of use during writing and drawing.

Did you know that a single wooden pencil can write 45,000 words or draw a line that is 35 miles long? A pencil can also write under water, upside down, or in zero gravity."

Featured Article ~ Dr. Kahn

 First, Us

Dr. Kahn is a local psychologist providing counseling, assessment services and presentations for parents, students and businesses. Every month he writes a article covering a variety of parenting topics. His website, Dr. Steven Kahn, hosts an archive of articles from 2006 to present.

The artile of the month is "First, Us." It examines the dotted line that exists between parents and their children. Reminding us that we can only control ourselves, not our children; and by staying in one's own skin we can remain cool and calm to provide positive modeling for children.

Check your email this week for a copy of the article!

Whate'er I do, things great or small
Whate'er I do, things great or small
Whate'er I speak or frame.
Thy glory may I seek in all,
Do all in Jesus' name.

My Father, for His sake I pray.
Thy child accept and bless
And lead me by Thy grace to-day
In paths of righteousness. Amen.
