Magellan reached the Philippines!
On March 17th, 1521 Ferdinand Magellan and 150 of his crew reached Homonhon in the Philippines! After having sailed round the southern tip of South America (which many believed an impossible feat), Magellan was finally killed during a battle between two local tribes.
At the time of his death very few in Europe knew of Magellan's successful navigation through the straits south of South America. It wasn't until the chronicles, collected from the few remaining crew members, were translated in 1800 that the world knew of Magellan and his crew's adventures!

Foodshelf

Each March Minnesota FoodShare runs the largest food drive in the state and restocks food shelves across Minnesota.  During March all financial contributions are doubled through a matching grant, so your almsgiving goes twice as far.  Envelopes will be available in the Church pews beginning March 3rd.  Place your financial contribution in the envelopes and deposit them in the weekend collection or you can drop them off at the parish office by March 31st.

We will also hold a food drive at all school Mass on March 29th to collect non-perishable food items for a local food shelf.

Our Lady of Peace Home

Our Lady of Peace Home (formerly Our Lady of Good Counsel Cancer Home) is currently operated by the Franciscan Health Community and treats terminal cancer patients who are unable to afford care in other nursing facilities or to continue care at home.  On the weekend of March 10-11, we will be collecting toiletries for the patients of Our Lady of Peace Home.
