Aim Higher
Next week (Jan 29 - Feb 4) we will celebrate Catholic Schools Week. This annual, nation-wide celebration brings a theme that resounds at Our Lady of Peace: Catholic Schools - Faith. Academics. Service. We will display these themes next week through all school Mass, special times for extended reading, our science fair, service projects to Feed My Starving Children, and plenty of fun.  Full schedule here. The Men's Club Pancake Breakfast in the school cafeteria on January 29 gets the week started right and tours of the school will be available from 10:00 - 11:00 am on that day.

Just in time for Catholic Schools Week, the archdiocese has launched the Aim Higher campaign. Click the image below to watch a video about Catholic schools.

TOP FIVE MYTHS OF MARDI GRAS GALA BUSTED!
Mardi-Header

Myth #1:  Mostly just school parents attend this event.

Reality:  Certainly not!  Tons of parishioners who do not have kids at OLP attend this fun event.  In fact, lots of people who are not even parishioners attend this event.  So join us-- and bring your families, friends and neighbors too!

Myth #2:  It costs a lot of money to attend.

Reality:  There is no charge to attend this event and have a bite to eat. However, there's a pretty darn good chance that you'll find an awesome auction item to bid on (silent or live), a raffle ticket to buy, or a fun Group Event to sign up for. Please support OLP School at our biggest fundraiser of the year.

Myth #3:  I'll have to dress up.

Reality:  While many people choose to dress up, many others do not and that is perfectly fine; we are not picky. You could go a little crazy in this department, though, using the Mardi Gras theme as an excuse!

Myth #4:  I'll have to dance.

Reality:  You say you have two left feet?  You are rhythmically challenged?  Fear not!  No one is going to force you out on the dance floor. There's plenty to do before the music starts and once it does, just sit back and enjoy the show. Or volunteer to wash dishes or help with check out during that time.

Myth #5:  You have to be a school parent to volunteer.

Reality: Nope!  We'll take all the help we can get. Many shifts are only one hour long so everyone can enjoy the party. Just go to signupgenius.com/go/olpmardi to sign up quickly and painlessly.
