Advent Thanks
|
|
Thank you to all who participated in our Advent project with Nuestro Pequenos Hermanos. Thank you to parishioner Vicki Roers and her employer, Allina Health Services for allowing her to visit the NPH home in Honduras. The young people from our school, Wednesday night religion class and parish scout troops raised over $1210.50 and donated hundreds of stockings so that Vicki and parishioner, Paul Campion, could provide a Christmas stocking for each child at the home. For more information and photos, check out Vicki's blog. Friends of the Orphans received 8 child sponsorships from parishioners at OLP, totaling $3320 in annual donations. Thank you all for embracing this ministry.

Advent & Christmas Season
We officially closed the Advent and Christmas season last Sunday with our Epiphany celebration. There are many signs that Christmas has passed: Retailers are selling organizational items, workout apparel, and dieting supplements, your tree is probably down, Nativity scene put away, and a calmness has hopefully been restored to your home. Another sign of Christmas past is a feeling of gratefulness and from that feeling we give you a brief video of thanks. Click the image below to access the video and read on for five signs that the Advent and Christmas season of 2011 is over.

Sign 1 - Planning for Mardi Gras is in Full Swing
| Mardi Gras is an annual Our Lady of Peace event that supports our Catholic School. Save the date -
Mardi Gras | Our Lady of Peace | February 11, 2012
If you have not attended this event in the past, then this is the year to do so! The evening is filled with munchies and mingling, music and memories. One of the most anticipated parts of this event in past years has been signing up for Group Events. Group Events are fun and unique ways to get to know your fellow parishioners and perhaps try something new, all while supporting OLP School. There are already some super Group Events in the works, including a Door County Get-Away, a camping event and a spring bike ride along the river. We are looking for many more! Please consider hosting or co-hosting a Group Event. Think dinners, picnics, parent-child specific events... Think a few people, or a few dozen... Think your home or another venue. Please contact Crystal Wood to discuss making your fun idea a Group Event reality!

Sign 5 - We're Looking Forward to A Summer Trip
| Do you shop at Oxendale's or Kowalski's, ride the Metro Transit, or eat at restaurants like Riverview, Blackbird, or The Craftsman? Then you might consider the purchase of a Chinook book from one of our 2012 missionaries. The 2012 Our Lady of Peace Mission Trip is heading to Billings and they are raising some funds by selling Chinook Books. These books are loaded with coupons to vendors right in our neighborhood and just a few are mentioned above. For the cost of $20, most of us will find savings to easily cover the cost and you are supporting a great cause! Secure your copy by contacting Ashley. A listing of coupons can be found at msp.chinookbook.net/
