Welcome!
Bay Hills Community - Spring has sprung upon us.
The community activities will continue to unfold with warming temperatures. The garage sale was a success according to the reports, maybe a bit slower than our previous peak events. The county dumpster collection of home and yard waste went well. It is always amazing that a few individuals have trouble putting their stuff in those huge containers and a few can't get their natural yard waste separated from manufactured household items but ... such is the nature of life. But 95% of us got it right. We got threatened by the county for non-perfect compliance but we will do better in the fall, RIGHT?
The board approved the use of our tennis courts for a child's instructional program this summer to occur right after school lets out. Additionally, the board has reapproved and rescheduled resurfacing the tennis courts in 2012, a need that is long overdue. This project was delayed so as not to stretch our community budget too thin last year.
The community Spring Fling has been scheduled, and details can be found elsewhere in the following Beacon text. Last year's event was fantastic and included a family picnic, a moon bounce, a visit from the local fire department - the new pumper and a crew of firemen and women sharing safety thoughts and handouts, the police department presenting details on the Neighborhood Watch program and answering safety and communication questions and extending an invitation to their monthly Eastern Region community meeting, the introduction of our new playground equipment and a host of volleyball games. What can we add to this year's festivities? Your ideas and energy are welcome and solicited.
The basketball court / storm drainage pipeline is not as pleasant story. Bottom line: we are not much further along resolving the repair issue. We continue to work with the county to define the "real problem," the resolution and the financial order of magnitude to correct the pipe breach. Until those issues are resolved, our front basketball court will have to remain closed. AND NO, WE DON'T LIKE THAT SITUATION. We're continuing to push on many fronts. If you think you can contribute please come to our next board meeting or give me a call. Your board is always searching for energy, talent and connections.
Your community has a number of small and not-so-small landscaping projects it would like to tackle. If you or a group you belong to or a group you want to organize would be interesting in pitching in to brighten up the community property, please contact a board member or give me a call.
Serving our community,
Jeff Burkhart
