Basketball Court #1 Still Closed

The BHCA basket ball court #1, the court closest to Bay Green Drive, is closed while the board addresses a sink hole issue adjacent to court. A safety fence has been erected around the issue and the affected court has been locked and posted with appropriate signage. Court #2, located behind court #1 is open for play. Please make sure children and young adults understand the purpose of construction safety fences and locked courts. They are there for a purpose: safety.

Welcome!

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Just by way of update, the basketball court closest to Bay Green Drive remains closed while the association, the county and the golf course hammer out who owns what for purposes of financial responsibility. We continue to pour through plats and legal documents in an effort to determine ownership of the property. This will take some time, unfortunately, and the basketball court will remain closed until the sinkhole is fixed. We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes. The basketball court furthest from Bay Green Drive remains open, and we remind folks to steer clear of the sinkhole area and respect the construction fence.

We've managed to skate (not literally) through the winter thus far and haven't had any snow- or ice-related problems. The mild winter weather has encouraged residents to get outside more for running, biking and walking activities. Some folks are out in very dark clothing in the early morning hours or at nighttime, and are oftentimes very hard to see. Be careful driving through the community, watch your speed, and watch out for the community athletes.

Remain safe,

Jeff Burkhart
BHCA President

Anne Arundel Hiring Election Judges
3,500 positions available for upcoming Presidential Primary and General Elections

The Anne Arundel County Board of Elections plans to hire 3,500 Election Judges for the upcoming Presidential Primary Election to be held on April 3, 2012, and the Presidential General Election to be held on November 6, 2012, in 189 precincts throughout Anne Arundel County. Given their need for highly motivated and dependable workers, the Board of Elections is reaching out to the community for assistance. The election judges who staff the polling places are a very important part of the electoral process. They are responsible for administering the actual voting procedures in each precinct. Without these individuals, it would be impossible to conduct an election. Anne Arundel County is in need of Republican election judges, but all party affiliations are welcome to apply.

To become an election judge or if you have additional questions concerning election judges, please contact the Anne Arundel Board of Elections at 410.222.6600 ext. 3139 and ask for the election judge department. You may also visit the website at www.aacounty.org/elections and complete the election judge application located at the bottom of the home page, under "Be An Election Judge!" Email it to electionjudges@aacounty.org. If you do not have Microsoft Word or email access, you can print and complete the PDF election judge application and fax it to 410.222.6833.

Thank you for assisting the Election Judge Recruitment program.
