Welcome!

Dear Neighbors,

Well, another challenge behind us here on the Broadneck Peninsula, or maybe I should say almost behind us.

I scrapped the first draft of this note written in candlelight for the following:

The days after a hurricane always come with beautiful weather but full of clean-up work and repairs, and often times while coping without the conveniences we have all grown so used to, i.e. electricity, telephones, local convenience stores, open schools and day care, and sometimes even water and sewer services. I am happy to report that I have received no notice of injury or home damage in Bay Hills. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the cars. It seems that with the high winds, a number of trees decided to say a close hello to a few cars. I know of three in the neighborhood. I think most of us lost some percentage of the food we had in freezers and refrigerators except those who operated generators. That percentage seems to be getting greater. Seems everyone was very careful connecting, starting and refueling their generators. Please be very careful disconnecting and storing your generators, as well.

Hopefully, each of you received the emailed safety reminders and the emergency notices from the County via our email notice system. "Ah-the modern age of technology."

Current events:

  • Tuesday September 6 is the last Bay Hills Board meeting before the association annual meeting. The board will give final approval to the proposed 2012 budget. If you desire to have any input before it is distributed. Come participate during the board meeting. It will be held, as always, at the Providence Center on Shore Acres Road at 7:30 p.m. The proposed budget will be mailed after the meeting with the formal notice of the Annual Meeting. The Annual Meeting will be held at the Bay Hills Club House on October 12, 2011; reception at 7:30 p.m., formal meeting at 8 p.m.
  • The fall garage sale date and the county's neighborhood trash clean-up days-our days with dumpsters will be approved/confirmed at the September Board meeting. Check the Bay Hills blog for confirmed dates. Again some planning will be required, as we can only get the dumpsters during the week, no weekends.

Sincerely,

Jeff Burkhart
