February/2011
Greetings!

February is upon us and we're pleased to be bringing a very special show your way this month.  In this issue we'll touch base on the works of Walt Horton and the release of his new book titled, "Sculpture and the Art of Being".  Throughout the month of  February we'll be focusing on Walt Horton (1949-2010) and his creative bronze works.

We'll kick things off on Friday, February 4th, from 5-9pm during Downtown Bend's First Friday Art Walk.  We encourage you to join us for live jazz by Rich Hurdle and Friends, a glass of wine and an opportunity to see Walt's brand new book along with a large body of his original bronze sculpture works.

We'll also be introducing you to our new bronze artist, Mick Doellinger as well as some beautiful fresh works from some of our other talented Mockingbird artists.

Thanks again for following us through facebook and the blog, and also allowing us to reach out to you through this online newsletter. We look forward to hearing from you!

INTRODUCING:  MICK DOELLINGER
End of the Rut
"End of the Rut"
by Mick Doellinger

Mick Doellinger

We're proud to introduce to you the newest sculptor to join our Mockingbird lineup,  Mick Doellinger.

We've just received our
first two sculptures by Mr. Doellinger, from Fort Worth, Texas and we're excited to share them with you.

Mick grew up in Australia surrounded by a vast primitive landscape and abundant wildlife.  At age 15, he worked at a thoroughbred training facility riding young horses.  Drawn to everything equestrian, he began steer wrestling and traveled to compete in rodeos throughout the Outback.

In the late 1970's, he came to California touring on the rodeo circuit.  He met a couple of taxidermists and became fascinated with the craft.  He spent most of his time absorbing everything he could about taxidermy before returning to Austrailia.
