Plan to Attend Teen Day and Learn to Drive Wise
A teen tests her driving skills on a simulator at last year's Teen Day.
Give your teen the gift of wisdom! Isn't that what all parents are trying to do? On Saturday, May 5th, the Fuquay-Varina Police Department will host the 2nd annual Teen Day Fuquay, an alcohol and distracted driving awareness program, at South Park from 11 am to 4 pm. The event is free.

Commissioner Jeff Wells Environmental Trail

to be Dedicated on Saturday, April 21 at 10 a.m.

Former Fuquay-Varina Commissioner Jeff Wells, who served on the Board of Commissioners for nine years and lost his battle with cancer while in office in December 2009, will have part of the Heritage Trail between South Park and Carroll Howard Johnson Environmental Education Park named in his honor.

Civic leaders, friends and family members will gather on Saturday, April 21 at 10:00 a.m. for a dedication ceremony for the Jeff Wells Environmental Trail. The public is invited to attend. A short ceremony will be held near Field #3 at South Park and then guests will be invited to walk the 0.7 mile trail.

Mayor John W. Byrne said, "Commissioner Wells was a dedicated public servant who had a deep love for Fuquay-Varina. From 2001-2009, he represented every citizen with great passion and thoughtfulness. The Town is pleased to name this beautiful trail to honor Commissioner Well's life and service to the Town of Fuquay-Varina."

Seeking Junior Camp Counselors

Junior Counselors are needed for the 2012 Summer Camp. Junior Counselors are teens that volunteer to assist camp counselors with the planning and execution of summer camp activities. Volunteers should be in high school and at least 14 years old.  Junior Counselors are expected to work at least 20 hours a week. This is a great opportunity for teens to build work experience and collect service hours for job and college applications. Applications are available at the Community Center, or may be obtained by email request to Anthony DiMarzio, adimarzio@fuquay-varina.org.
