Operation Feed Photo Contest: It's Time to Vote!

Some forty Operation Feed organizations have stepped up to highlight their 2012 involvement by submitting photos for this year's "Rally To Tally" contest. All entries are posted on Mid-Ohio Foodbank's Facebook Page, and now it's time to vote!

Photos with the most Facebook "likes" will be selected as finalists. So lend us a hand: click through to cast your vote; then encourage your friends and coworkers to "like" their favorites as well.

Finalists will be recognized in front of peer Operation Feed organizations (the winner chosen by applause-o-meter) at the Campaign Finale event on August 23rd. And, you just might see their photos featured in marketing efforts for next year's campaign.

Hurry--the last day to vote is Friday, August 17th. Good luck to all ... and may the best photo win!!!

Campaign Finale: August 23 at Nationwide Arena Founders Club

This year's Operation Feed finale event will be held on Thursday, August 23rd, at the Founders Club at Nationwide Arena. Those involved with the campaign will come together for an announcement of total meals raised, highlights from the photo contest, and recognition of outstanding campaigns.

Invitations have been mailed to representatives from participating organizations. This is a wonderful way to engage the leadership of your organization, showcase your efforts in the community and network with other Operation Feed participants. The deadline to RSVP is August 15th. We hope to see your group there!

Max & Erma's "Food for Families": Now through August 30

Area Max & Erma's locations will be participating in the "Food for Families" campaign in honor of the chain's 40th Anniversary. Through Labor Day, diners at all Columbus restaurants (excluding Port Columbus & Crowne Plaza) will be invited to purchase Erma's Donation Dollars for $1 that will be donated to Mid-Ohio Foodbank. Guests will sign their cards before they are posted in the restaurants; in exchange they will receive a discount on a future purchase.

Also, on designated days, a particular Max & Erma's restaurant will donate 20% of your bill back to the Foodbank. Just present one of these corresponding flyers (or show it to the server from a mobile device):

Did You Know?

The mix of food distributed by Mid-Ohio Foodbank is

drastically shifting: the percentage of non-perishable products

is decreasing while that of fresh foods is increasing.

In 2009, before relocating to the Brookham Drive facility,

11 of the 30 million pounds of food distributed were fresh--36.7%.

Over the past 12 months, the Foodbank has distributed

46 million pounds, and nearly 23.5 million of those were

fruit & vegetable produce, dairy and meat products--more than

half of total distribution!
