Truck to Table Challenge Yields Four New Foodbank Trucks Last Thursday, Mid-Ohio Foodbank celebrated the arrival and commissioning of four new refrigerated trucks made possible through the Truck to Table Challenge. In October 2011, John "Buck" and Jodi Patton challenged the Foodbank to raise $380,000 to invest in and expand its transportation fleet. If we could raise these much-needed funds to get more food to more of our hungry neighbors, the Patton's would match the donations dollar-for-dollar, resulting in $780,000 to fund four new trucks and a year of operating expenses for each.
We are thrilled to report that over 150 individual, corporate, and government donors stepped up and joined the Pattons, and a total of over $830,000 was raised for this critical effort. Our event this past Thursday honored the Patton's and thanked our donors for making it possible for us to source, pick up, and deliver food to thousands more struggling people in our communities. Each new truck has already hit the road, carrying up to 18,000 pounds of food each day.

Meet Bradford School FOODFIGHT Design Contest Winner, Katie Carnes For the fourth annual FOODFIGHT, a design contest was held once again for the creation of FOODFIGHT flyers and print materials. The winning design came from Katie Carnes, a design student at Bradford School in Columbus.
Katie said she was very honored and excited for her work to be chosen, and was inspired by designs from previous years of FOODFIGHT. She said her goal was to include the event's title in the graphic itself, and to produce an attention-grabbing, family-friendly product. Katie is a freshman at Bradford, enjoys freelance work and said she would like to work in commercial design in the future. Best of luck, Katie, and thanks so much for your fantastic design!
Results from this year's FOODFIGHT are still being tabulated. Stay tuned for updates!

RECIPE FOR SUCCESS: Nationwide Nationwide Insurance's Tuttle Call Center put together a creative campaign activity to engage their entire office and put a realization behind the fight against hunger: "Fill The Leader's Grocery Bag." Ten office leaders volunteered to be a part of a food eating competition, with a bit of a twist. Each leader was assigned a grocery bag, and each day for seven days fellow employees were challenged to fill the bags with tickets representing Operation Feed's "most-needed food items." Tickets were sold individually for $2 and in bulk--6 for $5. Here comes the twist: employees could stack bags with tickets for items they'd most like to see a leader rush to eat within 30 seconds!
When the week was up, tickets were tallied, and food assignments were announced. Each leader was responsible for eating a set portion of their highest collected food, and if they could not eat the entire portion within the 30 second limit, they had to match the dollar amount collected in their shopping bag! While no one could quite finish their food in allotted time, the activity created a great visual to bring focus to the importance of hunger in our community. Employees said the campaign reinforced the company's core values, as they worked together to raise over $2,600! Thanks, Nationwide, for your great campaign support!
