Dear ARThouse friends,
This is the Month of Reflection here at ARThouse! Why? Because this is when we really start preparing for the year ahead. The garden is past its prime, and no longer a distraction. The fall art season is shaping up, with many exciting classes, activities, and opportunities...
I am reflecting on the question of what direction I would like my painting to take in the next "academic year". There are many national and regional juried shows I would like to enter. I am planning a series of rubble paintings, and also a series of figurative paintings. Also, I am offering a series of classes this fall for intermediate and advanced watercolorists. See the paragraph below--there are still a few slots. We are usually open Wed-Fri, from 10-6pm. Come by and take a look at new work! Susan Avis Murphy |

We have launched a Facebook Page about ARThouse! Check it out--you don't have to be a member of Facebook.
You'll find several photo albums showing pictures of ARThouse and ARThouse people, as well as our Student Show and a selection of paintings by myself, Susan Avis Murphy. We'd love it if you would "Like" us and become a fan! Help to spread the word about ARThouse and contribute to our success!

Attend an outdoor painting event!
Plein Air Olney in Laytontonsville
On Saturday, August 27, many artists from the area will be gathering to paint outdoors in the town of Laytonsville. It is my understanding that the Show & Sale for this event will be on Sept. 17 at the Town Picnic.
This is a special event sponsored by the Olney Farmers and Artists Market. Artists of all levels are invited to participate, and you need to contact Tara Holl (tshstudios@juno.com) in order to register. But anyone can come and buy the work, fresh off the easel! You can also find more information at: www.olneyfarmersmarket.org
