Speed Art Museum
FASTSIGNS Louisville had the distinct pleasure of working with The Speed Art Museum to promote its new exhibit, Impressionist Landscapes: Monet to Sargent, on display at the Speed from now until May 22. Street pole banners are on view in the front of the Museum, highlighting two Impressionist works and announcing the exhibit. Boulevard banners were highlighted in a previous issue of FASTSIGNS Louisville News, and they certainly catch the attention of cars passing by the Museum.
Visitors are also guided by a gigantic 20' x 20' mesh banner on the parking garage structure. FASTSIGNS Louisville created and installed this banner, featuring the same Impressionist pieces and creative play on words as were featured on the street pole banners and highlighted throughout the show's promotional pieces. This is an excellent use of the mesh banner that was highlighted in last month's issue of FASTSIGNS Louisville News.
The crowning glory was the custom printed wallcovering on a curved wall leading to the lower level, which features the exhibit. FASTSIGNS Louisville used the wall as a billboard, covering an architectural hole in the wall temporarily to make it an even space, and making it a seamless backdrop to promote the exhibit. The beautiful Impressionist landscape provides the perfect entrance to the exhibit and the textured wallcovering was the perfect solution. Frederick Childe Hassam, American, 1859-1935, Poppies on the Isles of Shoals, 1890, Oil on canvas, Brooklyn Museum, Gift of Mary Pratt Barringer and Richardson Pratt, Jr., in memory of Richardson and Laura Pratt, 85.286
FASTSIGNS Louisville also provided information about the era, the artists and the collection throughout the display with vinyl lettering applied to the walls and areas surrounding the artwork. The objective of any sign is to inform, direct or sell. This project accomplished all three while blending with and enhancing the transformation that takes place at The Speed Art Museum each time a new exhibition arrives.
