Project of the Month
Second Street
StreetScape Project

Downtown Development Corporation reopened Second Street after an extensive renovation which included decorative lighting, brilliant colors in the freshly painted bridge trusses, pole banners and architectural panels.  FASTSIGNS Louisville was honored to work closely with MAC Construction to produce and install the exquisitely designed architectural resin panels which reveal information about Louisville's river wharf, historic Main Street and details of Louisville's bourbon industry.

FASTSIGNS Louisville developed translucent panels with photos embedded inside to allow light to pass through.  Using a new product from 3-Form, these panels showcase vintage images from the area. Translucent architectural resin panels with images of old style bourbon barrel logos were also produced as part of this project.  Translucent cranberry panels added color and pizzazz to the area while working with and accentuating the effects of the decorative lighting.  These panels add a vibrant splash of color to the renovation.

A previously dark and gray corner of our city has been transformed into an exciting and inviting area for gathering before and after KFC/Yum! Center events and other Second Street happenings!

FASTSIGNS Louisville was pleased to partner with MAC Construction in producing and installing these innovative and eye catching panels for the Second Street StreetScape, a project designed by Carmen Landscape Architects for the Downtown Development Corporation.

New Flatbed Printer
Expands the Possibilities

FASTSIGNS Louisville is constantly taking the pulse of its customers and working to meet their needs.  In addition, we strive to stay ahead of industry standards by keeping our technology state-of-the-art.  All of that is what led to the purchase of a new flatbed printer!

flatbed printer

This new printer will allow FASTSIGNS Louisville to print crisp, clear text on a variety of amazing surfaces.

For example, here's a job we printed for the Pediatric Unit at Frazier Rehab Center.  We printed directly onto the solid surface material, matching the nurse's station countertops, signs and directories.

There was a primer applied behind the photo of Ethel Larosa which enhanced the image.  In addition, FASTSIGNS Louisville used a special technique to make the black text readable and keep the small type from competing with the small pattern in the solid surface material.

Another new job were the CD's made for this local band.  These demo CD's had the image and song selection printed directly onto the CD.

The four-color photo of the band, along with the logo and song index all printed clear and in true-color.

Call FASTSIGNS Louisville today if you have an idea for a new method of communication. We'll have a solution and it just might involve our new flatbed printer!

Nursing Change Will Affect You

A note from co-owner Sam Cilone:

As a Healthcare Signage Professional, FASTSIGNS Louisville takes pride in staying abreast of the needs of the Healthcare Community as it relates to signage.

The Kentucky Board of Nursing is in the process of implementing the national Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Consensus Model.  Under this implementation all Advanced Practice Registered Nurse titles will change from ARNP to APRN effective January 10, 2011.  What does this mean to you?  As a facility operator you will start receiving requests for changes to directories and nameplates to reflect the title change of your APRN's.  In some facilities the impact of this change will be greater than others.

FASTSIGNS Louisville recommends a proactive approach to minimize the impact these requests will have on you and your department. We can help.  At your request, we will survey your facilities and provide a report and cost estimate to update all APRN titles. In many cases the APRN works for a private practice which will be responsible for the cost of the change.  With your help we will identify these practices and work with them directly.

Please let me know how FASTSIGNS Louisville can help you.

Regards,

Mesh Banner for Outdoors

Outdoor banners can be tricky. You have to account for the elements -- wind, rain, and everything Mother Nature throws at your banner.  Which can make it tough for a banner to hang tight.  That's why FASTSIGNS Louisville often recommends mesh as the ideal outdoor banner material.

Mesh is a great solution for large outdoor banners. The material has tiny holes that allow wind to pass through the banner, reducing wind load stress on both the banner and the structure to which it is attached. Because the mesh allows the wind to pass through it, the risk of hem or grommets tearing out is also reduced. Snow and ice flow through and melt easier as well.

Mesh banners are ideal signage solutions for banners installed on fences, and for open outdoor venues such as concerts.

Full color images and graphics can be printed directly onto the mesh material. The banners can be hemmed with either grommets or pole pockets.

Charity Event Calendar Announced

FASTSIGNS Louisville is a big supporter of the WHAS Crusade for Children, as well as other charity events across Kentuckiana. That's one reason co-owner Sam Cilone was struck by the idea of a single, online calender that would feature the events of ALL area non-profits.

"It's tough to be a non-profit, especially now.  And it is especially hard to get the word out when you have a function. As signage professionals, we wanted to help metro area charities have a single place to feature their events," said Cilone. "This will also give people one place to go when looking to support our area non-profits."

The FASTSIGNS Louisville Charity Event Calendar is a free service for all metro area charities to promote their fundraising events.

FASTSIGNS Louisville welcomes WHAS 11 as the media sponsor for the online calendar.  WHAS 11 will promote the calendar and use the various fundraising events in newscasts.

Charities can register and enter their own events or simply send them to the calendar by email or regular mail and have the event entered.
