Georgetown College Murals
Georgetown College needed something to spruce up and invigorate its freshman dormitory lobbies. Enter FASTSIGNS Louisville and the "Room for Success" project.
FASTSIGNS Louisville worked with Associate VP of Institutional Advancement, Communications & Marketing Jim Allison to develop a large wall mural in each of the men and women's freshman dormitories. The project featured printed wallpaper with a graffiti style displaying words and phrases from the Georgetown College experience. FASTSIGNS Louisville developed the wall covering for this project. The custom wall covering provides a coordinated backdrop for photos of successful Georgetown alumni.
The custom wallcovering was textured, an important feature in this project since it helped cover imperfections on the plaster walls. The FASTSIGNS Louisville team also worked around existing structures in the dorm lobbies, and on the walls and ceilings, to make the giant wall mural cohesive. Everything had to tie together, and it does!
The men's dorm features an orange background with images of successful Georgetown College men, while the women's dorm features a green background with images of successful Georgetown women. Each motif was made to match or compliment the current color of that dorm's interior color scheme. The alumni images are full-color photos mounted to acrylic and installed with stand-off hardware (featured in last month's newsletter).
"Working with Susan and Sam and their staff at FASTSIGNS on various projects is about as easy as it could possibly be," says Allison. "They are creative and willingly seek solutions. I usually throw them challenges, often on relatively short notice, to which they respond in a timely manner. Theirs is definitely a "can do" attitude. And most important of all, they "can do."
