Food For Thought
Just wanted to share something I've been thinking about over the last month:

When looking at how important something is to someone, I ask, what do they spend their money on, and how do they spend their time?

Whether it's relationships, work, exercise habits, or eating habits, you can learn a lot about someone by asking these questions. I notice that the biggest successes happen for myself and my clients when we truly PRIORITIZE our health. Like I wrote in my last newsletter, I had fallen off the workout wagon for a while but recently have been a workout machine. I have the same amount of time as I did then, I just choose to actually spend it on working out than on other things.

I've heard so many excuses from people about not having time to exercise.. I understand being busy... but the one that always gets me is "I need to watch my shows on tv." Why not go for a walk instead or hit the gym instead of turning the tv on when you get home?

Same goes for expenses: it costs too much to eat well, I can't afford organic food, etc... How much is your cable subscription? How much money do you spend on eating out? On things that don't bring you health? I believe that when we truly prioritize our health, we find ways to cut back in other departments.

What are your thoughts?

Recipe: Marvelous Meatballs!

Thank you to my client Kathlene Stakely, for passing this recipe along. It's from Sarah Fragoso of Everyday Paleo. Kathlene cooks from the Everyday Paleo website and cookbook almost every day and feels and looks GREAT!! According to Kathlene, "It's so easy to make, set it and forget it, and, it makes a ton, so my family can eat from this one dish all week or I freeze leftovers for an easy meal at a later time." Sounds like a winner to me!

Directions:
Mix together (use your hands)
- 2lbs grassfed ground beef
- 1lb of pork sausage
- chopped celery, onions, and carrots
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup almond meal
- lots of dried oregano, garlic powder, cracked black pepper, and a little cayenne

- small drizzle of raw honey (optional)

Form into large meatballs and cover bottom of crock pot, you might have to stack them depending on the size of your crock pot.

For the sauce mix:
- 1 16 oz can of diced tomatoes
- 1 can of tomato paste
- a large handful of torn fresh basil
- 5-6 coarsely chopped garlic cloves
- a couple pinches of sea salt
- cracked black pepper to taste.

Cover meatballs with tomato sauce and cook all day on low.

Enjoy!
