Your Child's Teeth

Here are 6 things to remember to ensure your child's teeth are healthy:

1. Baby teeth are important. They help your child to eat and speak properly.  They are generally lost and replaced between the ages of 5 and 12.

2.  Healthy food makes healthy teeth. Less sugar...less harm done!  The calcium in cheese and yogurt makes teeth hard and helps to prevent cavities.  Drink water between meals - not juice or other sugary drinks!

3.  If your baby sleeps with a bottle, make sure it has water in it and NOT formula, milk, or juice.  The sugars in those will sit on the teeth while they are sleeping and cause damage.

4.  Look at their teeth and spot any changes such as lines or spots - these could mean trouble!

5. Brush and floss your child's teeth. Supervise them as they get older to ensure they are getting every tooth.  Wipe the gums of babies with a clean, soft cloth.

6.  Visit the dentist!  Bring them between the ages of 2 and 3  so they can get used to having their teeth checked. Then bring them regularly to keep those teeth looking and feeling their best.
