The temporomandibular joints are the two joints which enable the jaw to move in all directions, under the control of a complex set of muscles.  They are located at the base of the skull, where the  cardiovascular, neurological, auditory and ocular systems converge. Because they are located in such a sensitive place, many symptoms and variances of pain can occur.  Dizziness, ringing in the ears, pain when opening the jaw, and headaches are the most common complaints of temporomandibular disorders.  While it is not possible to be a certified specialist in TMD, Dr. Dodds has made it one of his specialties, travelling the world to study with the best minds in this area.  He has been treating sufferers of TMD for the past 3 years and has also gained a wealth of knowledge from retiring dentist, Dr. Mal Nattrass, who has successfully treated TMD's for the past 30 years.
