Pro Equine Grooms, founded by Liv Gude, is fast approaching it's one year anniversary as a grooming resource website. The past year has brought tremendous growth and traffic, partnerships with other like minded businesses, and the creation of a huge database of online grooming resources and articles.
Each week, at least five new articles are published on the website, discussing all things related to grooming. topics range from barn management ideas and techniques, to the best way to clip or groom. Resources also include valuable information kindly shared with Pro Equine Grooms from Veterinarians, Equine Nutrition Specialists, Farriers, and other horse industry Professionals. Guest bloggers are welcome to share their stories, and of course the site is interactive allowing readers to comment, ask questions, and share their own experiences. This creates the community!
This effort in educating horse industry Professionals is fueled by Liv's many contacts and friends in the horse industry. Liv has known grooms that have been injured on the job, and unfortunately have also been without Worker's Compensation Insurance or health insurance to assist in paying medical expenses. This prompted Liv to not only create Pro Equine Grooms, but to also establish a database of resources for this type of information.
In continuing with this mission of education and valuable grooming related information, Pro Equine Grooms is also currently working on a series of employment resources. This provides grooms and employers alike the current and correct information they need to make proper decisions about hiring, paying employees, and insurance issues. Liv Gude has joined forces with Marcia Hancock, The Job Search Advisor, to share their knowledge and experiences with employment issues in the horse industry.
Liv and Marcia have tackled such touchy subjects as Worker's Compensation Insurance, Workplace Harassment, classification of employees as independent contractors or employees, and will soon release a resource about hourly and salary employees. While a lot of these topics reveal that some current ways of doing business may not be correct or lawful in the horse industry, Pro Equine Grooms strives to share the knowledge with employers and trainers to support them in complying with workplace laws and regulations and prevent the possibility of violations. Professionals from across the horse industry have commented on these articles and have found them to be well-written and informative with practical application to all areas of work and employment for anyone in the equine industry.
Liv and Marcia also often engage in lively online discussions on topics such as whether or not certifications are necessary and should be required for employment in the horse industry; and if templates are the way to go to create a resume for horse industry professionals. Liv and Marcia welcome and have received great feedback on these articles, discussions and topics from devoted Pro Equine Grooms followers!
In addition to the current resources and offerings, Pro Equine Grooms has a list of upcoming additions to the website coming up - including a newsletter and an option for purchasing a membership. This will allow members to receive benefits from our business supporters in the form of product discounts. This will also be the basis for the group health insurance plan we hope to launch this year as well. This will give grooms and employers alike access to basic health insurance, which is typically not offered by employers in the horse industry. You can also keep your eyes peeled for more surveys, to get a real feel for important topics that affect grooms. We hope to see you at www.proequinegrooms.com in the near future!
