Yoga Philosophy
| The intent of asana is that you are calm in the midst of turbulence. The success of your practice should be judged by how well you remain centered in the midst of change. Not your leg behind your head or handstand in the middle of the room. Success of asana is measured by how well you deal with the challenges of life.

New Schedule Effective October 1, 2011 |
The Drishti Set Your Gaze. Focus Your Mind. Discover Your Balance. As we all know, where the eyes are directed, our attention follows. When our gaze wanders, so do our thoughts, and we become distracted. This is why control and focus are fundamental principles in yoga. When we can calm the mind and become centered within ourselves, we find ourselves fully present, first in mind and then in body. From here we are able to mindfully direct our focus, with a gaze that is both present and controlled. This is the practice of Drishti.
We can break patterns of thought-distraction with a conscious focus. Yoga is a form of meditation in how it instills in us a sense of total presence. This presence is the vehicle that opens our hearts to positivity, our minds to possibility, and our bodies to power. It entirely shifts our perspective into a renewed state of alignment, balance, and discipline. We allow ourselves to go deep into the action of pushing limits and expanding our horizons ever further, continuously reaching new levels of self and potential.
All of this growth and transformation begins each time we step onto the mat. Our feet rooting down to the Earth, our hearts open, our reflection an expression of our highest self, we set our intention and we step into our practice. Honor this beautiful experience by honoring the empowering focus that is Drishti. Know that as you develop this focus on the mat, you will experience this focus in abundance off the mat and into your life. |
