Something to Think About

"As far as I'm concerned, the stock market doesn't exist. It is only there as a reference to see if anybody is offering to do anything foolish."

Greetings!

Our number one goal at The Financial Guides is to help you be as successful as you can possibly be in all areas of your life: financially, business wise, and personally.  In order to assist you on your path to greatness we will be giving you extra tools to make the journey easier.

Sun, Surf, and 911

With the summer season finally upon us many are planning summer getaways.  We pack our swimsuit, golf clubs, sunscreen, bug sprays, and all the other vitals, but how many are heading out without proper travel insurance?

If you are traveling outside of your province of residence you NEED to have travel insurance.  As we all know accidents and unplanned illness can happen to anyone at anytime, even you.  It is bad enough if we are in a car accident when we are home, but when it happens when we are traveling it can cause us a lot of extra financial grief.  An unexpected illness like a heart attack, or even something as simple as food poisoning, can cost more than you ever imagined.

Good travel insurance is cheap and something you never want to be without.  There are three main issuers of travel insurance and they are:  Group insurance, credit cards, and stand alone travel insurance.  Here are a few questions to ask when evaluating travel insurance:

1.  Is the coverage pay direct or is it a reimbursement plan?

2.  Does the insurance company have to be notified before seeking medical treatment or within 24 hours of an incident or hospitalization in order for the insurance to be valid?

3.  How does the company treat pre-existing conditions?

4.  What is the coverage limit?

5.  Does it cover you when doing "fun" activities such as scuba diving?

6.  Does it cover non-medical expenses such as travel and expenses for a family member to be with you if needed?

Travel insurance is very affordable and easy to get the RIGHT COVERAGE.  If you have any questions whatsoever, give us a call at (403) 257-6354 or (888) 469-3027 or tammyjohnston@thefinancialguides.com and we can help you out and even get you fully covered in about two minutes over the phone.  Have a great summer and make sure you can truly relax and enjoy your hard earned holiday.

"I never thought about it until I broke my leg and realized I have to get insurance, ... The more I was traveling and doing work I realized I did need that, basically to protect my investment, which is myself."

Mixing Business and Pleasure

As most of you know I'm a self admitted workaholic.  I love what I do, and I'm always working on projects, with clients, and moving my business forward.  I also have a husband and a daughter that need and want my time.  Add in a need to personally recharge my batteries so I don't burnout and I will fully admit to requiring time off.

With all the things going on in my world it can be very challenging to completely walk away from everything work related for an extended period of time right now.  That being said, I have holidays scheduled to remember my personal life, boost my creativity, and make good deposits into the relationship banks with my family and friends.

To make this happen I am learning ways to mix business and pleasure.  My Crackberry is a very useful tool that lets me be on vacation and still be able to deal with emergencies at the office.  The rule is I can only check it twice a day at set times so I'm not distracted from the real purpose of my trip.  Having a must do list the week before I go is a great motivator to keep me on task to get my absolutely vital things done before I go and to allow me to really relax while I'm away.  Another must is to have good people to delegate to should an emergency pop up that needs immediate attention and a body.  For that I am abundantly blessed with a great team that is very capable of helping out if needed.

So take a bit of time to figure out what you might need to do to make your time away from the office energizing while ensuring that business moves forward.  Have a great summer!

"I'm a workaholic.  Before long I'm traveling on my nervous energy alone.  This is incredibly exhausting.

Patty Milligan:  Lola Canola Honey

We all need and want a little sweetness in our life.  Patty Millgan is someone that can help you get all you want in a natural, healthy, and informative way.  Patty is a beekeeper in the Bon Accord area of Alberta.

I love honey, but never really knew much about it other than it comes from bees.  Whenever I have the opportunity to visit with Patty I am always learning new and interesting facts about honey, bees, and bee keeping.

Her website is filled with all sorts of great information, especially on her FAQ page, and I highly recommend checking it out for great tidbits.

If you are looking for a fun way to learn more about the beauty and magic of bees or to get some awesome honey give Patty a call (877) 921-3657 or info@lolacanola.com
