We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives...not looking for flaws, but for potential.

We've seen so many newcomers in the past month and more are streaming in the door so welcome! We are proud of you for the courage it takes to make the change! Come practice in the warmth of Bikram Yoga Grapevine and be a part of the transformation taking place. If not now, when?

We're ready to expand!
Arlington studio in works
Have you been wishing for some bikram yoga just a little closer to home? Dream no more! Stacey Stier, owner of Bikram Yoga Grapevine, is currently renovating space in Arlington near south Cooper and I-20 that will soon be a second studio to students who live a little closer to Ft. Worth than Grapevine. Soon, you'll be able to use your membership at either studio and never be able to use the excuse again that "yoga is too far away from home or work"! Tell all of your friends and start making plans NOW to visit the new studio when it opens in the near future. Stay tuned for more announcements. Forward this email to friends/family in Arlington area. They can then subscribe to our newsletter and start receiving updates directly...

Come fly with us on February 13
Another chance to fly (without the use of controlled substances) will be yours February 13 when Francisco Morales, yoga instructor and couples' workshop leader extraordinaire returns to Bikram Yoga Grapevine. We had so much fun last year (especially with Jorina and Ilse Petty's prat fall) that we decided to do it again but don't wait. Save the date now and look for more details on price and time in the next newsletter. Come experience the grace and balance you never knew you had!

Forget the resolutions:
Live your best life all year long

How many New Year's resolutions have you made in years past just to realize by Valentine's Day that NONE of them have lasted? You're in good company. Ninety seven percent of New Year's resolutions never end up being fulfilled, say experts, because they were never realistic to begin with. What's the trick? Keep change simple and don't wait until January 1 to make it happen. The Babylonians were the first ones to begin making resolutions because they believed that what a person did at the start of the year would affect their life for the rest of the year. Unfortunately, only 46 percent of resolution makers make it past the first six months! Instead, make a list of three viable changes and map out a realistic plan for each using small steps and plenty of time to accomplish the task. Most importantly, be positive with your intentions and don't beat yourself up if the resolution turns out a little differently in the end. You still get an "A" for effort!

Tune up your body and lose weight!
Add veggies, beans and grains for health
One viable change you can make this year is not to focus on what you SHOULDN'T eat, but rather on what you CAN eat. By adding one or two new plant based foods, your bloodstream and immune system will immediately thank you. For instance, substitute brown rice for white rice or white bread and go "meatless" one night a week for dinner. Whole Foods has packaged tempeh (a meat substitute) in many different flavors and it can be quickly stir fried in olive or sesame oil with onions for an amazingly tasty protein option. Here's a quick recipe idea: Tempeh Peanut Saute
1/2 package of tempeh 1 tsp. toasted sesame oil 1/2 cup water 2 cups of mustard greens or bok choy 2 tsp. tamari (soy sauce) 1 tsp. natural mustard 1 cup bean sprouts (optional) 3 tbsp. roasted peanuts
Cut 1/4" slices of tempeh. Saute them in oil, 8 minutes on each side, in a covered pan. Dissolve the mustard and tamari in water and pour over tempeh. Add greens and peanuts, ocver and simmer 5 minutes. Add sprouts and heat again briefly. Tumble and serve with steamed brown rice or ramen noodles. ENJOY in good health!!
