Bikram Yoga Grapevine"Wherever you are, be there totally. If you find your here and now intolerable and it makes you unhappy, you have three options: remove yourself from the situation, change it, or accept it totally."

positive emotions
Negative thoughts and feelings (anger, resentment, fear and stress) toward yourself or others harms the body and slows down growth and healing.  This makes you more susceptible to disease and accelerates aging. Positive thoughts and feelings (love, happiness) toward yourself and others allows the body to concentrate on growth and healing. This strengthens the immune system and lengthens your life.

Welcome Spring!
Winter has left north Texas and the smell of flowers, fresh grass and warmer air have left us restless but hopeful.  When the earth renews itself each year, so do our bodies.  Every four months, our body replaces all of our red blood cells once and the white ones several times. It's  the perfect time to start a new yoga practice or step up an already established one.  It's also a perfect time to change negative thought patterns.  If not now, WHEN?

woman and yin yang symbolRefocus and improve your yoga practice
Are you an experienced yogi or yogini who has been practicing for at least a year but can't honestly say you're getting any closer to grabbing your ankles in Camel or kicking out with purpose in Standing Head to Knee? Are you just renting a hot room for 90 minutes?

Focus is paramount in the bikram room and it is crucial that you listen to the instructor's words and follow as closely as you can.  Holding poses longer than instructed, doing your own creative versions, rattling ice in your water jug, and generally holding your own "mini class" are not only factors holding YOU back from improvement, they're a distraction to the class in general.  Remember, if you are experienced, beginners are looking to you for help in modeling the correct way to get in and out of poses.  You're also an inadvertent example of grace and composure to those who are still struggling to stay in the room for the whole class.  The next time you feel like rolling your eyes or relaxing in Half Moon, realize everyone else is counting on you.  We need your positive focus!
stuffed sweat sack New Sweat Mate bags and clothing
Forget the supermarket plastic bags you've been toting your sweaty yoga gear in after class!  We've got cool waterproof yoga bags to hold your wet stinky stuff and they're affordably priced and good for the environment.  Small ($19), medium ($29) and large ($39). Even though they're washable, save the water and just turn them inside out to dry each time you use them and they dry perfectly with no smell.  (Warning: This doesn't work if you leave your Sweat Mate bag in the back of your car for three days.) The studio is also sporting some locally made peace-sign goodies in the form of tees, tunics and hats.  If you don't see the color or size you need, we'll be happy to order it for you.
party globeParty for departing yogis
Pam and Scott King, two faithful yogis since 2005, are moving to New York and though we hate to see them go, we love an excuse for a party.  Come join us at Copeland's in the Hilton at the Southlake Town Center on April 10 at 5:30 p.m. Yogi Bill Huston will be banging out tunes on his guitar and rumor has it Stacey has even written a song for the occasion.  Make sure to swing by and wish the happy couple well on their trek north to a promotion for Scott (he'll now be in air traffic control management) and hear evidence that a few other yoga practitioners are talented OUTSIDE the yoga room, too.
