It's all about choice
One of the easiest but worst habits we can have as human beings is to slip into "victim mode" and feel that we have little or no control over our lives. Nothing could be farther from the truth! Because while you're in that bad headspace blaming everyone else for your troubles and getting lost in a cloud of sadness and self pity, you're missing out on all of the love, happiness and self fullfillment all around you.
We are born with the bodies we currently inhabit but your view of it and just about everything else in life is a choice. You CAN break out of the negative "victim mode" but it's going to take work (and yoga...lots of yoga.) These six steps can help, too:
1. Be okay with the awkwardness of change. (Old habits die hard.)
2. Take responsibility for your life.
3. Get an attitude of gratitude.
4. Forgive! (We're all human after all.)
5. Turn your focus outward and help someone else.
6. Give yourself a break (change takes time.)
Getting out of a victim mentality takes work. Some days you may slip backwards...be okay with it. Keep working at it, though, and the day will dawn when you find yourself no longer automatically judging others and yourself. Your life will be less stressful and the drama will subside. You may even look forward to Camel!
