Odor detected around Longbranch Elementary and Walnut Grove Middle School October 5, 2011 At approximately 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, district officials were notified of an odor outside the perimeters of Longbranch Elementary. It has been determined that the source of the odor is from the Waxahacie structural fire site. EPA has been monitoring the air quality since the incident first occurred on October 3.  EPA has determined that the air quality at the site is okay and we have no additional information that would lead us to believe otherwise.The EPA will continue to monitor the air quality every hour. Due to the odor, Longbranch Elementary and Walnut Grove Middle School students will remain inside until further notice. All other campus administrators will make the decision to keep students inside based on the odor within their campus perimeter.
