This series was developed to simplify the four basic parts of Medicare (A, B, C & D) to help make your Medicare choices easier to understand. The information is from the official Medicare publications, "Medicare & You", "Understanding Medicare Enrollment Periods", and "Your Guide to Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage." The entire series was reviewed for accuracy by Medicare (CMS Region VIII).

Adapted Home Exhibit at Freedom Services Expo Ctr  

Location: Freedom Financial Services Expo Center

The Independence Center is ready to show Southern and Eastern Colorado the importance of having accessible rooms and tools for people with disabilities. The Adapted Home Exhibit is on October 5 and 6, 2012 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is free to the public. The Adapted Home Exhibit is an event designed to educate the community on what accessible tools exist to keep individuals with disabilities independent in their homes and communities. The home will be constructed at The Freedom Financial Services Expo and will showcase nine rooms filled with over 1,000 tools with encourage and enable independent living.

Get in the Hearing Loop & Double the Effectiveness of Hearing Aids
Location: East Boulder Community Center

Come listen and learn about hearing loops can improve your hearing and understanding in different venues where hearing aids typically fall short. Juliette Sterkens, a nationally known audiologist and loop advocate will be presenting the program. Bring your hearing aids! There will be tables with information about local audiologists and products. No sales will be made at this presentation. It is informational only. This presentation is important for anyone with hearing loss or family members dealing with a loved one with hearing loss.

Helping Families through the Alzheimer's Journey

The topic of this event is "Helping Families through the Alzheimer's Journey." Alzheimer's disease has been described as the long goodbye. This disease impacts not only the person with the diagnosis but also the family and friends around them. This program will give an understanding of the family experience and concrete ways to help them cope with the changes. Silverado Senior Living Founder/CEO Loren Snook and Co-founder/Senior Vice President Steven Winner will attend the October program and will be signing their book (The Silverado Story) for all attendees (the book is our gift to you).

October 12 - 12th Annual Senior Resource Day Presented by The Arapahoe County Council on Aging
Location: Buck Community Recreation Center

Seniors and their families attending this free event learn about resources related to healthy aging, enjoy free food and prize drawings. There is entertainment, free stuff and XpresShred! Service providers, local business and organizations will have the opportunity to share information regarding their products and services. Master of Ceremonies is Debbie Brinkman, Littleton Mayor and special guest and speaker is Dottie Lamm, Colorado's First Lady from 1975 to 1987. The event runs from 9:30AM - 2:00PM and the exhibits are open 11:00AM to 2:00PM.

This one-day symposium, Building Connections, brings together experts on Alzheimer's disease who will help transform the way we think about this disease.
