For Seniors, Boomers, Families, Loved Ones & Friends Living in and along the Colorado Front Range |
Greetings!
Welcome to the SeniorsResourceGuide.com e-Newsletter for seniors, boomers, families, loved ones, friends and senior professionals living in and along the Colorado Front Range. A thank you to those that have signed up for our Colorado Front Range e-Newsletter! Why are we sending this e-Newsletter? The goal is to help spread the word about local senior resources and services, highlight events and save a tree or two. We feature different topics related to aging in the hope that seniors and their families become better prepared for aging. The organizations and companies featured are experts and professionals dedicated to serving seniors. If you have questions, visit their websites, email or call them.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by the forest fires in Colorado. Support your local Red Cross and Salvation Army.
Visit the American Red Cross website and learn more about the type of assistance provided. Make a donation if you are able. The American Red Cross website also has information on how to be prepared for disasters such as wild fires, floods, earthquakes and other emergencies. They are an excellent resource!
The Salvation Army works to help fullfill the needs of survivors, emergency response personnel and volunteers through food and beverage service and emotional support.

T H E P R E P A R E D S E N I O R A Question for Social Security
Question: My husband and I are both entitled to our own Social Security benefits. Will our combined benefits be reduced because we are married?
Answer: No. When each member of a married couple works in employment covered under Social Security and both meet all other eligibility requirements to receive retirement benefits, lifetime earnings are calculated independently to determine the benefit amounts. Therefore, each spouse receives a monthly benefit amount based on his or her own earnings. If one member of the couple earned low wages or did not earn enough Social Security credits (40) to be insured for retirement benefits, he or she may be eligible to receive benefits as a spouse.
