T H E P R E P A R E D S E N I O R Safety Net ...
Information provided by Mike Baksa, Lead Public Affairs Specialist, Social Security Administration in Denver Regional Communications Office. Mike Baksa may be reached via email
Safety Net for Aged, Blind, Disabled People with Limited Income and Resources - There's a safety net out there for those who might otherwise slip through the cracks. It's called Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Administered by Social Security, SSI makes payments to people with limited income and few resources who are age 65 or older, blind, or have a disability. The monthly maximum Federal SSI payment in 2012 is the same nationwide - $698 for a person and $1,048 for a married couple. If you're too disabled to work but haven't paid enough into Social Security to qualify for benefits on your record, SSI may be the program to help you. To learn more about SSI, visit the SSI page at www.socialsecurity.gov/ssi.

2012 Memories in the MakingŪ Art Auctions in Pueblo
Location: Pueblo Community College, Fortino Ball Room
Address: 900 W. Orman Ave, Pueblo
Alzheimer's Association Memories in the MakingŪ is a creative art expression program for individuals with Alzheimer's disease or related dementias. Even after people with dementia have lost the ability to use words, they are often able to express thoughts and emotions and to share memories through painting with watercolors. The experience offers an opportunity for the essence of who they are and what they care about to shine through. Beautiful artwork is created by those with memory impairment in 45 Memories in the Making art classes held weekly throughout metro Denver. A jury of professional artists selects the artwork for the auction and it is then professionally framed for display at the annual Memories in the Making Art Show and Auction.
