LACHSA
Principal's Message: Introducing LACHSA Live!
January 13th, 2012
Greetings!

Imagine one day, one event, and one place that features more than 30 live performances, unique art exhibits, debut screenings, and arts workshops produced by each of our world-class arts departments and featuring our amazing students.

Imagine
too, a convergence of LACHSA alumni returning to this location to reconnect and renew relationships with the LACHSA community.

Imagine
one signature event that captures the energy and spirit of the most exciting arts high school in the nation.

That day is here.  This is LACHSA Live!
LL

It's no easy task to showcase the LACHSA experience in one all-day arts festival, but we hope  LACHSA Live! provides a fantastic glimpse into the rich environment that is LACHSA.  Hairspray, by our musical theatre department, will open LACHSA Live! with a preview of this highly-anticipated production.  LACHSA Live! will feature marquee performances by our world-class orchestra, our award-winning jazz students, our amazing gospel, opera and chamber groups. LACHSA Live! will premiere our own student choreography, and other exciting dance performances.  Theatre's dynamic performance of the Odyssey will help to close LACHSA Live!  Our visual arts department will captivate participants throughout with highlights from the Art of Tolerance, a moving one-of-a kind experience and Film will screen work by our students, the future filmmakers of Hollywood.

As if this weren't enough, LACHSA Live! will feature our highly-acclaimed faculty leading open workshops--Suzanna Guzman, David Schoffman, Erica Robson, Jeremy Guskin, Anindo Marshall, Kenny Dennis--to name a few.  LACHSA Live! will also feature sessions promoting the soon-to-be released Fame High, a documentary about LACHSA by academy-award nominated director Scott Kennedy and much, much, more.

I am confident that LACHSA Live! will be a success.  Although LACHSA Live! will present close to 300 students--nearly half of our student body--I hope that it will be attended by all of our students, families, and friends.  General admission tickets are $15 and $10 for students with children 5 and under free.  General Admission tickets purchased before January 31st are only $10!  VIP options are available.

The LACHSA community draws it strength from the passion and dedication of our students.  One merely has to stroll the halls any day or attend any event to feel the spirit of LACHSA.  There has always been aspirations for a signature event at LACHSA that embraces this spirit, that promotes that best of LACHSA, and brings our story to new audiences.

With these aspirations as our driving force and with the collective vision of our students, parent community, supporters, faculty, staff, and arts chairs I am proud to introduce LACHSA Live!

This is who we are.  This is what we can do.
