Events like LACHSA Walk for the Arts helps ensure that LACHSA will continue to exist for future generations. During the last few years, LACHSA has seen a dramatic rise in our applicant pool with close to 450 applications in 2008 to more than 1100 in 2011. Some have speculated that the popularity of arts-themed shows like 'Glee' have renewed interest in arts high school, while LACHSA's outreach initiatives--sponsored generously by the Maxwell H. Gluck Foundation--have certainly increased LACHSA's visibility and have invariably had a positive impact. Whatever the reason or reasons we are excited that more and more young people are applying to LACHSA.
We recently launched our Live Your Dream recruitment campaign for the 2012-2013 school year. Live Your Dream is more than catchy tagline, it is the aspiration of the LACHSA student. For some, this dream may look like Broadway, others a studio. For some, the dream is about using art to change the world.
For many of our students, LACHSA was the first school where their unique world view was valued. For them, the dream was to feel safe, accepted, loved.
At LACHSA, the dream is as varied and individual as our students. LACHSA is not a school for just anyone, but it is a school for dreamers.
Sincerely,
George Simpson Principal
