LACHSA partners a current student with an incoming student to act as "host" for the school day to this incoming student.  Incoming students are then given the opportunity to experience LACHSA classes in its day-to-day operation - from the students' perspective. 

We are expecting at LEAST 150 incoming students will want to do this in the next three weeks.  That's 75 a week, and we will have to coordinate the hosts and the shadows.  The shadow period is to allow students with multiple offers, a chance to see OUR school in action and to see if LACHSA  is right for them.We would like to partner current freshmen and sophomore students to the incoming class, as they are more closely associated with the courses and experiences that will affect these incoming students.

How Can Students Help?
Suzanna Guzman will assign a LACHSA shadow host, typically a 9th or 10th grader who is in the same dept as the shadow. (The shadows can also request a host.)

Shadow hosts are given an instruction sheet that has the name of the shadow student and date of the shadow. In addition, each host is given a clearance sheet that must be initialed by each of their teachers and Dept. Chairs to approve the date of the visit. That form must be in the office the night before the shadow date (if there are extenuating circumstances a teacher may deny the visit).

The kids come to the school office ten minutes before 1st period, meet each other and then off they go to spend the day.

Shadow Host Registration Day
On Friday, March 18th, we will have a "Shadow Host Registration" table outside the office for volunteer sign ups. Students will receive 8 hours of Community Service.
