Dear LACHSA Community,

It is no exaggeration to say that parents are our primary partners in the education of our children.  We are a more effective school when we work together with our parents.  We have seen the success of this partnership with our indefatigable Parent Council and our recent Walk for the Arts.  We began our first-ever parent conferences last year after feedback from our parent community.  We present this year's conferences with a renewed commitment to a sustained dialogue with our parents about how best LACHSA can serve its student body.

This year we have dedicated two separate time slots to accommodate more parents.  I am confident and hopeful that parent attendance will exceed last year's impressive turnout.  Parents who are unable to attend are encouraged to make individual arrangements with faculty.

We expect much from our teachers.  It speaks volumes that our faculty is committed to devoting both instructional time and their own time to support tour families.  I look forward to seeing you all next week.

WHERE:  Conferences are located in the CSULA Golden Eagle (Ballrooms 1 & 2)

 

WHEN:    Tuesday, November 9, 2010      8:00-2:00

                  Students do not have academics - School begins at 1:20  Arts only

        

                  Wednesday, November 10, 2010 1:30 -7:00

                Students will be attending school from 8:00-4:00.

 

Important Information:

 

·      Department will seat teachers alphabetically.

·      Conferences are on a first come-first serve basis

·      Conferences will be limited to eight minutes

·      Parents will sign up as they arrive.

·      Print your child's grades per parent portal prior to conferences.

·      In the interests of providing our teachers time to eat and in order to       maintain the conference schedule, breaks are coordinated.

·      The following departments will be taking breaks at the designated times:

                          Tuesday, Lunch Break:         

                          11:00-11:30 English, Math. Science, Film                                                                                           11:30-12:00 Social Studies, World Languages, PE, Arts Chair

                       

                             Wednesday,  Dinner Break      

                             4:00-4:30: English, Math. Science, Film

                          4:30-5:00: Social Studies, World Languages, PE, Arts Chairs, SST
