Our Walk for the Arts was initiated out of necessity, as a fund raiser; our financial needs are great because our students deserve the best. What emerged, however was a spirit of community. We could see this spirit in the parents who tirelessly and ever-so-intelligently planned and plotted. We could see this spirit in the faculty and staff who supported and encouraged and walked with excitement and energy. We could see this spirit infuse our students, your children. They were moved to walk, dance, run, and leap not simply for one more show or showing for themselves, but for one another, for their community. We all saw with our Walk for the Arts something bigger than ourselves.
Yes, this was much more than a fundraiser, or a simple walk for the arts. This was the spirit of LACHSA.
Acknowledgements
Thank you to our amazing parent council! Under the leadership of president Michelle Higgs, LACHSA's Parent Council has been such a tremendous source of support. LACHSA's Walk for the Arts would not be possible without chair, Lauren Landress, the architect. Please also congratulate LACHSA's student body president, Alex Cameron for her moving pre-Walk talk. She is definitely one to watch.
Although, I am unable to thank by name each parent volunteer and contributor, faculty and staff member, and all of our students, please know that your collective contributions have made LACHSA's Walk for the Arts, a walk to remember.
